First of all let me state I am just posting this
so kids can have fun on a home project.
It is not meant to be used as a tool to post
hoax UFO videos. It is simply for family
fun and should be taken in such manner.

It's Saturday night and the kids are all wanting to do
something exciting as a family. Let's have some
fun by making our own UFO.
You acknowledge that you relieve me
of any damages or criminal acts by
your reading this post and following it's
directions. If not stop reading now.
If so, let's continue.

how to make your very own
traingle UFO for under
$50 bucks

List of items needed:

3 Kite kits from a hobby store
3 med to large scale see-through balloons
6 plastic couplings female to female
1 small container of crazy glue
1 small helium canister
3-6 illuminated glow stocks
1 3 to 6 ounce fishing weight
1 spool of lightweight 6-12 lb test fishing line
1 roll duct or clear tape
1 rod and reel

first thing is to purchase your kite kits
and be sure your plastic couplings are the same
size as your wood dowels in the kits.

1) Use your 6 couplings to make 3 long
rods. you can use 2 wood sections pieced
together but 3 would make the craft appear
larger. Couple the pieces together til you
have 3 rods of equal length. use your crazy
glue to couple the dowels and the couplings.

2) Use your nose cone connector from each
kite kit for the angled connections piecing
all 3 pieces together. This makes your triangle
outline. You can use a lil heat to bend the plastic
connectors for the perfect triangle.

3) Use your fishing line to tie each corner
of the triangle to it's opposing middle
dowel. This is your stablizer bar and also
place your fishing weight in the center and
run all 3 fishing lines through the metal connecting
loop. do not stabilize or fix this weight yet.
this will come later. Just make sure all 3 fishing
lines run through the weight and you can slide it
if needed.

4) Illuminate your glow sticks and place
1 or 2 in each balloon without puncturing
a hole. Use your clear tape to tape them
together before insertion.

5) Use your helium canister to fully
inflate each balloon with the glow stick(s)
inside. Then tie each balloon off with a finger
knot and use a 12 inch piece of fishing
line to connect the base of the balloon
to all 3 corners of your triangle. You will
have to use a small 3-5 lb weight on each
side to keep your triangle from lifting off.

6) Now you will have to test your triangle
for level flight. This is the purpose for
the fishing weight attached to all 3 fishing
lines. Hold you triangle off the ground and
adjust the fishing weight toward the balloon
with the most lift. This will stabalize and keep
your triangle from flipping over and over if
the fishing weight is equally distributed
per your lift. Do not attempt this on a windy
day or you will never get your weight to
adjust properly.

7) Once you have your fishing weight adjusted
to it's perfect center point, then use ur
tape to secure it into it's fixed position
for flight. Use one or 2 people to spin it
in a circular motion holding on to it to see
that it spins properly.

8) Now stop your spin and let your triangle UFO
take flight in the night skies. And if things work
out as intended you ought to have quite a bit of fun
seeing your craft take flight and continue to rise
and rise and float out of sight.

Wonder how many calls you will get
from neighbors? Do this at your own
risk. Do not blame me for the
consequences of a 6 once fishing
weight dropping from 10K feet.
Or if you want to play it safer
substitute another 1-2 glowsticks
in the center as an alternative
to the fishing weight. Them being
illuminated is your choice

If you want to fly it like a kite
and bring it back down when finished
then you can connect a fishing rod and reel
to the fishing weight and reel it back in
slowly when you're finished. It works great
for making it hover over one position.

Hint: taping the glow sticks together
gives a brighter effect as a single
light source, use scotch tape
or clear tape for this.

Enjoy your UFO evening

Save up, buy 300 kite kits, a box or three of the fishing glow sticks (about 25$ for 100 on ebay) make a fleet of them...
take over the world..
take down a commercial airliner by mistake...
get arrested..
beaten up by an angry mob of end of the world belivers. ufo fanatics etc etc etc...
oh the fun we could have on a weekend..
(all jokes by the way)
great idea,
but i bet we see a few hit youtube after this thread

maybe we have seen some just like this
and we didn't know it. Maybe, I'm not the
first to come up with this idea.

it would explain away lots of youtube
hoax UFO sightings.

Yep, at least now when we see a video of one that might be one of these we can all just say nah its just a
boondock-saint glow stick kite hack...
thanks for adding one more tool to debunk the hoax's
i do belive in ufos but for every one that might be theres like 100 that are hoaxes, as you know.

yep, I know
which is the main reason behind why I
endeavored to figure out how the hoax
was done and came up with this design.
thinking outside the box bro

it would also explain why the craft
color appears to be the same color
as the background sky. Cuz it is
empty space in the middle.

edit on 6/6/2011 by boondock-saint because: (no reason given)

Well using items to make something they wernt meant for ,is a type of hack.
so in my mind it qualifies..

just out of the box thinking is all.

backwards
