Maybe they should bring along the GOP Mark Foley of the Senate Page Scandal

Six-term Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) resigned yesterday amid reports that he had sent sexually explicit Internet messages to at least one underage male former page.

www.washingtonpost.com...

They could have a regular traveling circus!

A little something for everyone. No pun intended.

But, as you noted, Foley did resign.

Sounds like it's time for Tony Weiner (D-NY) to do the same - to protect the reputation of the Congress,

Ahh the sweet smell of hypocrisy
Since the start of this BS Weiner has been playing the "game"! Trying not to say anything that may bite him in the .... But since they need him the rest of the dems will close ranks and try and let him keep his job. More of the same old garbage.

It's all good unless he was being a Don Juan on the job... Oh, and lied about it. There's two strikes already? He'll still get a congressional pension regardless of the outcome.

Just like it is all good until he gets caught skinning puppies in his office. But I get it. The good old American way of where there is smoke, there is guilty until proven innocent about anything else we want to suggest. He flited online, he must be a criminal. It did not take long for people to say he was "probably" raping children so you will have to just go ahead without me. I cannot get onboard the whole "maybe he did something ilegal too so we better start digging." I sure as hell do not want that applied to me. I would not apply it to you.

Way to go off on a tangent while addressing me. The probe shouldn't have to go any further than time-stamps. If his idea of a job is getting paid in tax payer money to solicit porn stars, we have ourselves a conflict of interest running the country. If he sent his email and attachments after hours, who the heck cares except for maybe his wife... And who knows, she might be ok with it as long as he doesn't contract Hep C.

He lied when he claimed to be the victim of a crime (having his equipment hacked). That's why the FBI became involved in a preliminary investigation.

During my time in law enforcement, my experience was that the police who cheated on their wives almost always were involved in other major crimes. For cops, this meant things like racketeering, extortion, perjury, blackmail, etc. Interestingly, they also committed a lot of petty infractions as well: misfiling paperwork, stealing office supplies, etc.

The FBI and most local law enforcement agencies have a morals clause in their contracts, relating to behavior like Weiner's. Not because they are trying to be the morality police, but because such conduct makes them vulnerable to bribery and blackmail. Intelligence agencies have the same rules, for the same reasons.

Just imagine the clout a political enemy of Weiner (or Edwards or Larry Craig, Spitzer, etc) would have with explosive information and sworn affidavits. Such damaged people make themselves into a security risk.

The Soviets in particular focused on using a "honey trap" to blackmail US and UK officials and agents into betraying government secrets.

That's why it matters if a politician hides an affair.

Umm,, News Flash. House Minority Speaker Pelosi called on the House Ethics Committee to conduct an investigation into the use of gov't property due to allegations brought forth that he had.

Turn on Fox/CNN/ABC. Good stuff.

Apparently you didn't see my post a bit back that indicates another woman came out today with evidence of over 200 sex text from the Love Child and phone calls from his Gov't offices. She got tired of the dirty sextexting and told him to call. He did.

That's just the start-case file opened. From there, they will seize his computers and any other electronic devices that were issued to his etc. Then, if evidence of a crime, they will subpoena the court for his personal computers and phones....

They we are just blowing the dust off the top of the surface of this one.

Oh, I heard he was being groomed by the NY Dems for consideraton for the next mayor of NYC. Kiss that good-bye.

Well, he better think carefully: What a tangled web we weave... When we practice to deceive.

it is a federal crime to lie to government agents isnt it?

so resignation or impeachment is the course of action.

maybe i misunderstand title 18 of the united states code section 1001.

Federal law establishes a possible penalty of 5 years in prison for making a false statement to the federal government or its agents: (a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, whoever, in any matter within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States, knowingly and willfully- (1) falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact; (2) makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation; or (3) makes or uses any false writing or document knowing the same to contain any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry; shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 5 years… See 18 USC 1001.

Like Spitzer and Wrangle?

Thank him for bumping me.

There are more just like Foley my friend.
They are a party of closeted homosexuals, deviants and pedophiles.
There is no end to the embarrassing scandals if you look them up. Makes Bill Clinton and a box of cigars look downright missionary.

No, it makes any and all of the people we elect to do the people's business, who engage in sordid affairs such as this look bad.

IMO opinion the people it also makes look bad are the ones that can only respond with "well, the other guys did it too", because that's not the answer or the point.

Nobody we elect should be doing these kinds of things.

Can't we at least agree on that?

Even cheating on the wife is not my business. Maybe gayness, while preaching

I don't know that he ever claimed the the FBI to be the victim of a crime; but it's the rationale he gave to the press for how those materials originated from his phone. I had heard that the FBI had launched a preliminary probe, and then dropped it (presumeably because there was no evidence).

Who knows what "his people" told the investigators from FIB. May have shut the office door and told them the truth; may have said some back-&-peddle routine. Either way, the FIB dropped it.

I don't think he broke a specific law in lying to the press, and whatever he may have said to the FBI must've been behind closed doors (or they don't want to make a case).

My point was simply that in other branches of government, he'd be seen as unemployable for hiding the improper relationship. In those careers, covering up the deed is seen as admission of guilt.

Truthfully Centurion1211 I don't think we CAN agree on that.
I do not care what my politician does for sexual recreation, as long as it is legal.

I am not his moral guide nor is he mine.
I am a religions person in that I hold a theology and yet I do not accept it as a given - morality or religion is necessary or even desirable for wise and prudent governorship.

It makes him a security risk, if he's having to live a lie. Consider a congressman on an intelligence committee. A foreign govt. could use the evidence to blackmail him.

DId Weiner serve on important committees?

Wait....so how is flirting with women outside your marriage 'abusing your office'???? I kinda don't get your logic on that one.....

Creepy? Sure....
"abusing their elected office" though?......I don't see the connection.

Yes. We had to "Chase down" some ridiculous stories of crime, simply because round two is where they insist that they WERE abducted by aliens but that the cops "refused to investigate it because they were bought off."

Man, if someone hacked my account and it ruined my marriage, I'd have private investigators AND the FBI all over it. But then, I have a marriage that could be ruined by that sort of infidelity. For him, it seems to have been one more lie to cover up his budding double life.

We don't need political leaders with dark secrets.
