Of course....and how would any of the IDF soldiers know if any of them were loaded with suicide belts? There's only one way in and out of Israel and thats their proper border crossings! You try to cross in to Israel outside those border crossings you know you're going to get shot at and there's no ifs or buts about it.

No, Syria blatantly attacked Israel twice so Israel took it from them so they could never sneak attack Israel again. Syria can go pound sand. Besides they are having to much fun killing their own people, guess everyone forgot about that.

Palestinians are Arabs from Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon. Not before the 60s has there ever been a Palestinian. Unless you want to talk about a Biblical passage talking about the whole mid-east REGION!!!!

I will say it again. If Israel is not Jewish then why are there Hundreds of ancient Jewish Holy sites there dating back to the time before Jesus? The Arabs are recent abominations and they are way fewer of them..

No Palestinians before the 60's? You may want to brush up on your history yourself. The Jews started migrating there in the 1800's. So if there was a Palestine to migrate to then there were Palestinians there before the 1960's.

The number of Jews in Palestine was small in the early 20th century; it increased from 12,000 in 1845 to nearly 85,000 by 1914.

Exactly. Just because they occupied the Golan Heights in the 6-Day war does not make it "their land". They have never declared their borders. Never. They refuse to because they want to grab more land. So now they have no right to claim it is their "Country". It is occupied land that was taken from Syria.

Syria shoots protesters = Bad but world seems to not really care.

From 1955 to 2011, Israel has violated 102 UN Resolutions. One hundred and two. Of those 102 resolutions, the USA (Israels lap dog) has vetoed 42 to help their "good buddies" out.

This is not the first time Israel has attacked Syria. Nor will it be the last. Here are just a few Resolutions regarding Israel and Syria.

UN Resolutions of Interest

Resolution 111: “…condemns Israel for raid on Syria that killed fifty-six people”
Resolution 171: “…determines flagrant violations by Israel in its attack on Syria”
Resolution 497: “…decides that Israel‘s annexation of Syria’s Golan Heights is null and void and demands that Israel rescind its decision forthwith”

In every single Resolution, mentioning territory, Israel is referred to as an "occupying force". IE: It is NOT Israel's land. They are an occupying military presence in these areas, including Jerusalem.

Israel passed "The Golan Heights Law" in 1981 which basically says it controls and owns the Golan Heights. This "law" was condemned internationally.

The issue here is two-fold. One is Israels rampant ignoring of world opinion when it suits them. When the world asks they stop doing something that is deemed "bad" they simply ignore it and keep on doing it. When world "opinion" is against Israel, they whine like children that its unfair and every one is anti-semitic. The second issue is the event itself. Was it really necessary to open fire on 375 people? Did they attack the IDF? Did they pose immediate life threatening danger to the troops? Were they armed with weapons?

Israel has a very bad habit of opening fire on anything and everything. They remind me very much of Uncle Jimbo on Southpark when he goes hunting. "HES COMIN' RIGHT FOR US NED. SHOOT!!!".

How did Israel provoke Syria into invading their North eastern border in 1967? And dont say "BS mate" like you usually do....and second, address the fact that Syria invaded from the golan heights region and Israel met them on this front. Thus, Israel protected its own border AND took the lands which Syria decided to invade them from. This is the natural risk that comes with war. There is no 'i get to attack you' and "then through diplomacy get what i lost after my attempt to kill you all" rule. Its actually complete lunacy to expect Israel to cave in when every Arab country in principle refuses to acknowledge the sheer existence of a Jewish state called Israel. Hence the insanity of any negotiations between Israel and the PLO, or Syria, or Jordan, or Egypt...atleast not until they accept Israels right to exist on the post '67 borders.

Zionists invaded the Golan Heights in the 6 day war, the 6 day war began when Zionists attacked its neighbors. The attack was regarded as the expansion of borderless Zionist state, but disputed by Zionists who claim it is used as a buffer zone. This is a blatant lie because if it was used as a buffer zone, then we wouldn't see the slow but steady expansion of Zionist colonies towards these occupied territories.

The whole world agrees on this, except US and the Zionists themselves (not surprising).

In the other hand, most agree that the colonization and expulsion of indigenous population has much to do with the Zionist agenda, to reclaim the biblical Israel, that's why Zionists are not willing to regard the occupied territory as an Israeli territory. Because then, the indigenous population will have to be given same rights and those rights in a real Democracy would wipe the Zionist regime from the face of this earth.

Instead the Zionist policy is to stay in a state of war, and regard the occupied territory as occupied territory, but refuse to finish the occupation. MAJDAL SHAMS: Israeli troops opened fire on Sunday as protesters from Syria stormed a ceasefire line in the occupied Golan Heights, with Damascus saying 23 demonstrators were killed.

Hundreds of protesters rushed the ceasefire line, cutting through barbed wire as they tried to enter the Golan Heights in a repeat of demonstrations last month that saw thousands mass along Israel's north.

Similar protests were held in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip.

In Majdal Shams, on the occupied Golan, Israeli troops opened fire as demonstrators sought to push through the mined ceasefire line, which had been reinforced with several rows of barbed wire blocking access to a fence.

"Despite numerous warnings, both verbal and later warning shots in the air, dozens of Syrians continue to approach the border and IDF (Israel Defence Forces) forces were left with no choice but to open fire towards the feet of protesters in efforts to deter further actions," an army spokesman said.

Updating an earlier toll, Syrian state media reported that 23 people were killed, including a woman and child, and 350 were wounded. The Israeli military said it was aware of 12 casualties.

The United States called for calm.

"We are deeply troubled by events that took place earlier today in the Golan Heights resulting in injuries and the loss of life," the State Department said in a statement.

"We call for all sides to exercise restraint. Provocative actions like this should be avoided."

The US statement emphasised that "Israel, like any sovereign nation, has a right to defend itself."

The Israeli military also said that one person was wounded when at least one landmine exploded on Syria's side of the border.

"A Syrian mine exploded, seemingly because molotov cocktails thrown at (Israeli) forces started a bush fire which caused the explosion of the mine, a number of mines even," an army spokeswoman said. "Apparently there is one person wounded on the Syrian side."

Israeli public radio said "many" people were hurt in the explosion near Quneitra, which lies in no-man's land. There was no immediate confirmation from Syria.

In Majdal Shams, locals pleaded with soldiers to stop firing as troops used loudspeakers to warn demonstrators in Arabic that "anyone who comes close to the fence will be responsible for their own blood."

Israeli forces were on high alert after activists in the West Bank and Gaza, and in Arab nations bordering the Jewish state, called for protesters to march on Israeli checkpoints and border areas.

Military spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Avital Leibovitz accused Syria of orchestrating the Golan protest to deflect attention from deadly domestic anti-regime demonstrations.

"We believe that the Syrian regime is focusing the world's attention on the border with Israel instead of what is happening there," she said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the Golan demonstrators "extremist elements" who "are trying to break through our borders and threaten our communities and our citizens."

Protests were also staged in Gaza and the West Bank, where 16 demonstrators were taken to hospital with light wounds from rubber bullets, and another 20 were treated for tear gas inhalation.

Around 100 people demonstrated in central Hebron in the southern West Bank, while dozens of protesters tried to march from the northern West Bank village of Deir al-Hatab to the nearby Elon Moreh settlement.

In Gaza, Hamas police arrested around a dozen protesters who broke away from a rally at the northern town of Beit Hanun, and tried to march to the Erez border crossing with Israel.

Sunday's protests, timed to coincide with the 44th anniversary of the Six-Day War when Israel captured the Golan from Syria as well as the West Bank and Gaza Strip, were planned as a repeat of massive demonstrations last month.

On May 15, thousands of protesters massed on Israel's borders with Syria, Lebanon and Gaza, trying to force their way across on the anniversary of Israel's creation.

Israeli fire left six demonstrators dead on the Lebanese side of the border and four dead on Syria's side.

In Lebanon, Palestinian refugees on Sunday staged a day of mourning but the Lebanese army banned any gatherings at the border to avoid a repeat of the violence. (AFP)
