Isn't the Daily mail trash from the United Kingdom? What's an American have to do with that?

Nope, it's merely juvenile, highly offensive and likely to provoke more extreme reactions as it will be viewed as a religiously motivated attack on the Muslim community. Crap like this just adds insult to injury, things like this are used as proof by the extremists that 'the west' is against Islam, what's the point in trying to win hearts and minds in countries that 'our side' invaded and that 'our side' occupy when stupid stories like this are in the papers all of the time trying to fan the flames of religious tensions which are already running high in both the west and the middle east.

This is a takeoff on an old gag/joke from about a century and a half ago. Whatever the religions, two groups were fighting in the area of India or so. They were using arms supplied by the West (England, I think) that were "modern" at the time in that they were full cartridges.

The bullets were greased and capped with a protective paper that was typically pulled off with the teeth.. The story was that both were using the same bullets. One side did not eat beef. The other side did not eat pork. Each was told by their enemy that the grease was that of beef or pork which ever was distasteful to the group. It is unknow if any battles were won/lost because of that.

I suspect that is a taste of nintheenth century (even later?) English humor.
