Reagan outspent the Soviet union and brought the Berlin Wall down as a result. I don't think that and spending money on unconstitutional healthcare overhauls and bailing out banks is a good comparison.

Even if tax increases reached 99%, the rich would never feel it because the goods and services that their companies provide would pass the added expense onto us, the middle class.
So laugh! Gleefully enjoy the "gouging" that the rich will feel.
It'll only last as long as it takes to raise prices.
Now that a grown-up has explained things, you kids can go out and play now.

Put immigration back under control, stop allowing China to manipulate its currency in its favor, just another form of trade barrier, and the high wages will come back.

Our government (in our name) owes more money than there is cash on earth. No amount of raising taxes will get us out of the hole we are in. No amount of spending cuts are possible without breaking a lot of contracts will get the current spending requirements to a non deficit position. So the best solution to raise revenue is through increasing the GDP. IE get Americans back to work making REAL wealth. Taxing folks and creating government jobs is not REAL wealth, it is socialism and makes the problem worse.
If our politicians are serious about fixing the economy and serious about the deficit, they would cut the red tape on business and quit hiding behind global warming, the environment, etc etc etc.
Sorry if this was already covered, but I did not have time to read 13 pages of why taxing the rich is good or we need to cut grandma's check etc etc etc

"The rich do not employ people."
I should frame that and put it on the wall.
It would be good for a laugh every time i see it.

and the fact is you have to be rich to employ people.
strawman and an arguement that falls apart.

if someone handed you a 10 million dollar check your not a millionaire
all that means is that you have 10 million dollars.

mil·lion·aire /ˌmɪlyəˈnɛər/ Show Spelled
[mil-yuh-nair] Show IPA
–noun
1. a person whose wealth amounts to a million or more in some unit of currency, as dollars.
2. any very rich person.
and the facts are it takes money to run any business and employ people it also takes more money to keep and maintain that business.
so out of that 10 million dollars your spending 9 million dollars just to maintain it and materials and salaries and regulations and overhead continue to increase that last million dollars gets eaten up pretty fast.
of course that is dependent upon what the market dictates and someone then decides to raise your taxes then thats all she wrote.

Here's my thing. Rich people already pay more taxes than most.
Is this what you do? Troll threads, building straw men so you can feel superior winning arguments that only exist in your own head? I said I would be "rich." I am not even sure why you would make up an argument like this just to fail at it but thanks.
So full of strawmen. I would not be spending 9 million dollars "just to" do anything. I would be enjoying it. I have no need to go start a company or create new jobs just because I have an extra 10 Million. I am going to spend it on me and enjoy it.
I do not even know what you think you refuted but it was nothing I wrote in this thread. All you did was prove you cannot handle a dictionary.
