On the blue waves of the sky
I saw reflected in water
that silly loon who tried to escape
from my lens
Everytime I tried to shoot him
the walleye bit on my line
And I had to ignore him to attend to my line
And my children laughed
at my attempt to capture the life
around me, so brilliant and bright
The eagel soared above me
So far and clear but I couldn't get near
And the shoreline drew my gaze near
Interrupting my traps yet again...
On the gem of the lake of Portage

Thank you for your kind reply. Spent Memorial weekend up north fishing on this little lake with the kids. I brought my camera to take pics of the kids and the fish I knew they'd catch (which they did) and this loon kept popping up and everytime I'd try to take his pic I'd get a bite, so I'd miss my chance and have to reel in the fish. Of course this went on several times and my kids and hubby were laughing...well, finally I got one picture of this loon and he was pretty close so I was happy with that. But the sky was that crisp, crazy blue that reflected on the water and made the lake look as blue as the sky, like in the postcards you see...and the sounds of the loons, and ducks, and woodpeckers, and the contrasting greens of the trees of the shoreline. It was vivid colors, like the perfect picture. It was an amazing day that I got to share with my kids and I hope they'll always have that memory. Thus my little poem.
