most people think that a terror attack prior to the election will ensure a victory for Bush. this is why so many people think that the most recent alerts are lies.

You heard the announcement a few weeks ago that elections will be haulted if another "attack" takes place, assurance my faulterd american..

Condolezza Rice actually said they are not going to delay, postpone, or halt the elections at all lucid, even if there is a terrorist attack. So, I really doubt there will be any postponement of the elections.

Bit of an update:

The person who checked the luggage with the device in it boarded a flight to Philly. Apparently the plane was allowed to take off after the device was found (??!?!??) and now officials are waiting in Philly for the plane to land.
I'm interested to know WHY the plane was allowed to take off after this thing was found!

Banshee, I am not sure under what circumstances it happens, but i had my luggage on another flight before, different from the flight i was on. Perhaps it depends on how many people board a flight? or maybe it is because of something else, but it is not unusual for this to happen. Then again, I had this happen to me back in 89 and 94.

What I understood in the article you posted is that the man had already departed in his flight, while his luggage was being inspected with everyone else's, and then the luggage was going to its destination on another flight.

I'm not going to debate this issue with you. When you lack unity as a Nation espeially during this period you decline into chaos. If what is happening to us as a Nation now occured during the WWII the Nazis would have not been defeated. Do you really want the Muslims to take over?

flycatch, you do bring up a good point.I though about that and think that maby this is a "goal" of the group of which you speak of.Is one of the best ways to bring down an empire to cause internal chao's an a nonunity?I do think you are right....
But the point that i think is clear is that people such as me have "served" this country, and have had leigons of so called "grateful" cultures spit upon my face for "Liberating" them,is that not a sighn that what we are doing wrong?

Lucid vision: I don't mean to sound obnoxious but are you American by birth? Do you live in America? And is English your first language? I have great difficulty reading your posts.

I am Norwegian by birth, and yes i live in america, and was in the MARINES for 4 years,so dont think that i am not grateful of what this country is supposed to stand for.But if youre intention is not of riddicule than ok,an honest inquery i suppose.Anyhow I think that americans that have never been out of the country dont have a good view on how others view them.I understand that not everyone will agree upon sensitive issues, but when a blanket is being pulled over the eyes of the people,,,,eh,,thats sad indeed.

Lucid vision is right on!!!!!! Bush means nothing for this country except more war and deaths of soldiers who are liberating Iraq. Who Cares about Iraq. The soldiers should be here protecting our country instead of over in Iraq getting their people civil rights while ours are slowly being stripped away!!!!!

I don't think it is a bomb, I heard about this when it first happened. I have a hunch that all this is is an innocent piece of of something that the man happened to leave behind.

But good precautions by the officials

Things like this might deter other wanna-be terrorists!

How true. The Bush admin puts out these alerts and then they start having all the terrorist arrest. Where were all the arrest and alerts between 9/11 and now. Why all of a sudden before the New York convention are they suddenly able to intercept.

You do know we have had arrested several terrorists since 9/11 and not just now... ? Well, i guess you don't since you are asking. Do a search on these forums and you will find the information. The short anwser is, yes, US officials and from other countries have detained terrorists before, and after 9/11.

I am aware of that but now there is the big flux like someone is trying to prove they are taking action.

Don't you guys see that this is the same fight that has been going on over there for centuries?!?!? It's had it's lulls, but ever since the crusades the middle east has been a tumultuous war-torn region. Nowadays oil has alot to do with it, but that land itself has been the cause for many a war. The Muslims there are still fighting the same fight they were fighting 1000 years ago. They still see this as a Muslim/Christian war. We as Christians are the infidels. That's how they see it. They are fighting for Allah, their God, and we are fighting for what? So oil companies can have deeper pockets? So people can be placed in power there to increase profits to the elite? Do you guys honestly believe that the welfare of the Iraqi people was even seriously considered by the powers behind the scenes? No. They have the same objective and motivation they have always had. Power, wealth and control of certain lands. We are, always have been, and always will be inconsequential to the really powerful people. We are pawns in a really big and serious game of chess that has been being played for thousands of years. Only the names and faces have changed over time.

Sorry for the rant...

That being said, any updates on the Airport story?

Only a microphone?
Only?

I bet the current Administration condemns microphones as terrorist material as well. You could possibly record so nasty things with it
