Here's one reason - maybe we'd prefer people not concentrating on what it takes to get to the "next level" and just concentrate on doing what they like to do. If that comes with some acknowledgement and associated bling, then great. If not, so what? You're participating the way you'd like.

Things change. We put something out there like, "if you do x then you're "Gold". For some reason (one of those laws of unforeseeable consequences things) we end up needing to change and the Gold goes away, then we're bashed from pillory to post for going back on our word or something. Don't worry about it. No one's getting paid off it. I've been around long enough to know if we were passing out $50 bills, someone would moan over it.

Short answer, it's a nice little surprise for someone when it happens.

And of course, we have people complaining and wanting to opt out, too. Go figure.

Bottom line, we ain't tellin' specifics. If that changes, you'll be notified.
