We have become quite accustomed to odd names for children, with many people following suit after celebrities, however an Israeli couple must take the prize for the oddest baby name, after naming their new born daughter ‘Like’ in homage to Facebook.
The couple who are dedicated Facebook users named their daughter after the well known feature of the site which is a basic thumb up, that allows people to show their acknowledgement that they like a certain entry, picture, or comment without having to physically say so. The couple Lior and Vardit Adler are ‘in love’ with the feature so much that they decided to use it on their youngest child.
Mr Adler told German Press Agency DPA: “To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel. If once people gave Biblical names and that was the icon, then today [the Facebook Like] is one of the most famous icons in the world.”
Mr Adler’s other two other daughters are called Dvash (which is Hebrew for honey) and Pie; he said that he and his wife were also looking for a name that sounded nice when being called and that Like had ‘a nice, international ring to it’.

If I was this girl I would smack both my parents heads together when I grew up!
This trend, which is what it is, is about as stupid as it gets. Don't people realize that technology changes about every six months and trends seem to follow suit.
The only thing dumber then this act are these below:

KPNX's Lissette Martinez reports on a Phoenix, Az, tattoo parlor who can barely keep up with demand with requests for 'QR code tattoos;' ink that can provide social media or other information when scanned with a smartphone.

Well most that know me also know my utter discontent for social media sites. I am not saying I disagree with the idea in general, but right now with this technological invention in its infancy, it just falls short.
This picture sums up most of my thoughts on this:

And for those that try to keep to themselves but like these sites here:

im so glad I don't have to be bothered by any of that crap...I don't use any of those social media sites and i am sure i am better for it. Those people have very weak character..imo.

Other than ATS I don't really interact on any other sites..

I find that name ridiculous and the tattoo craze just plain dumb. What is wrong with people?

A backlash over Facebook Inc.'s privacy practices has triggered disagreement inside the company that could force Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg to scale back efforts to encourage users to share more about themselves in public.
The social network has come under fire for a series of recent changes to its policies that have limited what users can keep private, as well as embarrassing technical glitches that exposed personal data.

The Untermensch love naming their children stupid things.

It feels like we're slowly descending into a dystopian Science-fiction setting.

I don't care what people name their kids or what tattoos they have. I have a hard time understanding anyone who makes it their business. I don't care if they belong to Facebook and share their most intimate secrets with the world. Not my problem.

I would never belong to Facebook or these social networking sites, as it's not my thing, but to each his or her own.

Why do people care so deeply what others do? I don't understand this about our new culture. If you want to raise your baby without telling anyone its gender, people start sticking their noses in and saying its abusive. You wanna name your baby "Like", who gives a rat's ass? The babies named "Love" did just fine. Or "Apple" or "Barack"...

Does it really matter?

Kid will probably go by "Lee" and resent the parents the rest of their lives.

At least that's what I'd do short of pulling a Menendez.

Why not name the kid Wetfart McGee? Same nonsensical difference.

i think the name could be worse. its not that bad and sounds similar to something like luke. also if you read many names from foreign countries they sound bizarre to you so what constitutes as a normal name anyway?
id rather name my baby like then gertrude or gaylord
