I feel your pain and i;m exactly your age (after 50 I quit counting - worst birthday I ever had)
Being disabled with 4 kids and 2 grandkids I'm gonna have to stick it out.
France sounds mighty nice - m' wife lived there for a bit and she loved it but I'm sure it's changed as much as America has in the last 30 years.
There are very few places on Earth now the US government cannot reach out and touch you if they wanted.
Heck, there's hardly any wilderness left for anyone to run to.
I hope you get your bail out and can go somewhere that's not so hypocritical as America.
When they chained the people to the bankers debt with the TARP bailouts that was the point where everyone should have stood up and said "NO!".
But we didn't. They told us it was "necessary" to save the economy blah blah blah,
God forbid they should have to sell their Rolls-Royces.

I hear Libya is nice this time of year, or maybe you could try out the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I've heard Bukavu is the place to be there, best of luck to you finding your new home.

Living in America is still awesome. Truth be told, there is a very, very wide range of climates, cost of living, labor markets in the US.
The problem is life is getting better for only a few, while the vast majority are losing their will to work for the common good, as they see no common good coming out of their work.
