August 5,
"The Australian Olympic Committee has denied making a special payment to an Egyptian lobbyist who says he helped Sydney win its bid for the 2000 Games."

"The AOC president, John Coates, said the Canadian based lobbyist, Mahmoud El-Farnawani, worked on the Sydney bid for two years earning a salary. But he did not receive a special payment for securing the last minute votes of Uganda and Kenya."

Sydney beat Beijing by two votes.

"El-Farnawani was filmed by an undercover crew posing as businessmen seeking support for the London 2012 Olympic bid."

IOC promises action over corruption claims
International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge has promised that the IOC will take any necessary action over allegations of corruption made in a BBC TV program about bidding for the 2012 Games.

Seems like there was a deal done with China, like 'You're guaranteed the Games in 2008'.
