I know a majority of the people are very cynical in their views of the US Government, but is it possible the US Government could "wake up" and rebel against TPTB? Think of the threat we could impose, being the most powerful nation on Earth.

No. Its not possible "the government" will wake up. Why? Because "the government" is an abstract generalization, and not a real thing. It is a collective comprised of people, individual people, who are already in various stages of "awakeness" about our problems.
The problem in truth is less "the government" as a whole, than it is "the people" as a whole. We do what TV tells us to do, we vote how TV tells us to vote, and then we complain that the people the TV told us to vote for dont do what WE want them to do, they do what the people who paid to put them on TV tells them to do.
We cant possibly be much stupider and still walk around unaided. In America, "the government" can only be a reflection of the people, and it is. It reflects our stupidity and apathy, and our willingness to take orders from the same wealthy sociopaths who tell our politicians what to do.
How can we expect them to ignore the wishes of the sociopaths when we dont?edit on 28-5-2011 by Illusionsaregrander because: (no reason given)
