No #? I rode the original Texas Giant about...damn, it hurts to say this, but about 15 years ago! I might do that!

Definantly agree with you there. I rode it probably about 7 years ago and that ....hurt! Fun...but hurt like heck. Had a headache for the rest of the week. I think the new one is improved, atleast from what I saw on the commercials. The new one is supposed to be alot smoother, but thats what they say....Im sure its still scary as heck.....they did have to beat the Titan at one point, right?

Hahah, it jars you around a bit, but i wouldn't say it hurt me.

What hurts is that it was 15 years ago.

Just got back from a Cali trip and took California State Route 1 AKA Highway 1. Great scenic route along most of the coast. Stay clear of i-5 as it is like driving across TX.

Also, does anyone have any ideas for sleeping along the way? I was kind of hoping to not rent a motel every night!
You can crash at most wal-mart parking lots. I hope you have a comfortable vehicle though.

Haha, when you live in Houston, TX, and are going out of state to the north or west, La Jolla to Napa is a breeze! Good idea! Thats where the vineyards are, yes?

It'd be US 101 out of San Diego, right?

Yes, that is where the vineyards are. I suggest printing some coupons off the internet. You can get some great wine tasting deals. They can get a little pricey otherwise.

I just realized I said US-101 instead of CA-1. CA-1 is the nice scenic drive, you'll want to take that. You'll have to take I-5 from San Diego to Los Angeles, or an alternate route. In LA you can head toward the coast on I-10 and then get on CA-1. Once you get to San Francisco, you'll have to jump around a few different freeways to get to Napa. CA-1 will also take you all the way to Mendocino, pretty close to Humboldt.
