Facebook upgrade spurs fears of political bias

Facebook has once again added some upgrades, this time to groups. Perhaps forcing most currently active Facebook groups to reestablish all of their members.

Facebook’s managers are deploying a new software upgrade that will dismantle myriad groups of like-minded political activists unless they get a special software-key from the company. But Facebook managers are providing very limited information about which groups are being favored with the new key, prompting some activists to complain about possible political favoritism among Facebook managers, and many other activists to experiment with techniques and tricks to get the needed upgrade-key.

“Some groups will be given the opportunity to upgrade into the new design while others will need to re-create their groups,” said a statement from Andrew Noyes, the company’s manager for public policy communications.

I have also heard of the Canadian Government making claims of monitoring Facebook groups and correcting comments when they feel appropriate.

Here's the link in case I messed up with the youtube embed...
Is it possible other governments are monitoring just the same?

Star and flag.

Facebook = biased corporate propaganda networking site with censorship.

Canada = in 3rd place for current day Nazi Germany award, behind Israel then USA.

I still laugh about the time my friend commented about drinking a certain alcoholic beverage on my wall and shortly after I had an advertisement for that brand in the ads section. I had her make a post about ED to test it out yet surprisingly a Viagra ad didn't pop up

I have heard of many instances of FB censoring and favoring certain groups but it looks like they are taking it to a whole new level. I am saddened but not surprised that the Canadian government is actively and openly participating in this type of behavior. I'm thinking of moving to China now, I hear there is less censorship over there

I've noticed similar things with ads on my facebook. Even spam e-mails, I've noticed, come with names that resemble the names of people I've recently communicated with. I've always found that funny.
I laughed so hard when I read your plan to move to Chine for less censorship. Good call.
