Does anyone know if Hitler, Mussolini. Pol Pot, Idi Amin etc, had a lack of physical human contact as children.

And guess what, none of the bullies hugged me or gave me a high-five beforehand.

Does a bunch of fives count.

The people who hug you aren't the ones bullying you. Most people who are friendly, and hug or high-five their friends, aren't bullying them at the same time. You normally get bullied by someone who isn't a friend, hence, you're not hugging each other anyway.

If a bully gives you a bearhug isn't he just being friendly.

We lose something critical to our species when non-sexual human physical touch is banned. When someone is screwed up people comment that their parent's must have not hugged them enough. Touch is an integral part of our society as a whole. Schools are cashing in the developmental benefits of healthy human contact in exchange for a false sense of security. James Prescott, a neuro-psychologist at the NIH, reports from his experiments and studies that, "violence is closely associated with deprivation of close human physical contact in infancy and adolescence." It is a shame when teachers can no longer give a student an encouraging touch on the shoulder or a friendly pat on the back for fear of the reprecussions. And it is even worse when students who are probably still subjected to bullying cannot comfort one another with a kind hug or casual embrace.
