Then, I first had the disconcerting experience of having a gay guy "set his cap" at my lover of the time! And I discovered there's no depth they won't stoop to... They have all the advantages of being male better and more secure jobs than a woman, (especially a single mother) can get, social kudos etc., and they also have automatic kudos in the media etc. Above all, many people are easily taken in by the 'poor pitiful us' thing tbey do.

Do you realize though that one of the reasons you gave for disliking them so , like the one above, is also done by hetro women?

If your boyfriend can be so easily swayed, by money ,or prestige, it could have well been a women, who just wanted him for short perioid , and then let him drop to the side.

I have seen hetro women do cruel ,and very manipulating things, just to feed their egos , and to feel like they have "won".

Human nature has its dark side, and shallow side , in all walks of life ,all races,as well as genders, regardless of sexual preference.

There are gay men that I would much rather spend time,and be friends with than many hetro men, but that being said, I have met gay men ,that are sadistic and mean , and quite honestly should be in jail.

it's probably about the same, you just really didn't hear much about it in the 60's and 70's, well, not from the tv, there were plenty of wispers and gossip about it though....and it wasn't just little boys that were abused......

and vicky, I stand by what I said about the vatican being one of the most traditional places on earth.....
insult me as much as you wish!! they are usually about a century behind their followers when it comes to accepting those changes that we would call "modern". ya know, ending slavery, women's rights, birth control, women in position of leadership, ect.....
but, I would say the same thing about most of the religious organizations out there, as well as our supreme court....it is part of their function to cling to tradition, in this way that are set on firm ground, and not swayed this way or that way by every fad and short lived idea that pops up in the church....things have to be tested a long time before they are gonna be established within the church....

I wouldn't link the pedophilia of the Rome to celibacy vows, or to Catholicism. They should be married like anyone else, but then I'm referring to the average parish priest, that would make his life more balanced, for there are many good people who choose to be spiritual/religious guides.

Proof, probably somewhere in the loft! I think I explained myself badly, will try again! Please bear in mind what I am about to say goes against my own personal views on the subject of adults having sex with children, but, while researching the subject many years ago, this is what i learnt.

Although historically many other cultures have indulged in sex with children, it seems that our culture (stemming from the anglo saxons) is one of the very few, that use it as a form of abuse. Some societies have felt it was acceptable, therefore it is believed that children were less damaged emotionally by the experience, it was often seen as a normal proccess that many children went through. Therefore it did not have the impact on the young that they experience today in the western world. It was a rite of passage, rather than a form of abuse.

I will try to find some links for you, that show although peodophila does go on around the world, it is far less common in other cultures and it is only in our western society that children are so very damaged by the experience, it is believed that this is due to how our society percieves child sex, societies reaction as a whole to the subject of sex,even among adults, viewing it as shameful dirty and to be hidden.

Therefore yes, I stand by my earlier remarks as peodphilia is in our culture a crime that causes great distress, in other cultures it is not/was not historically a crime, or an indulgence to be ashamed of nor hidden,

This thread is in my opinion, starting at a point where sex with children = crime, emotional damage, adult distaste anger and all the other emotions we feel concerning this behaviour. Therefore it stems from anglo saxon behaviour

Oh..so as a culture..we are backwards?? sounds like a stupid excuse for behavior that is clearly not condoned in the bible. Is the bible only valid in western countries,and with anglo saxons? Did not the bible originate from Europe? I'm not saying I believe the bible..but clearly the idea of sexual discipline has been around for a long time.
