Conservatism (and neo-conservatism) is the root of all of our problems in America.

It all boils down to really simple terms....

You are correct it really does boil down to a very simple concept:

If you cannot own property, you are property.

The elite have gussied it up and put a pretty new dress on the concept. They call it "Socialism" or "Collectivism" or "Progressivism" or "Communism"

They tell you the needs of the group are more important that the needs of the individual. That property is THEFT. That we must sacrifice ourselves for others.

What they never do is let you read the fine print.

There are really only two choices:
1. If the group has more rights than the individual then all rights must flow from the biggest "group" the government.

2. If the rights of government come from the rights of the INDIVIDUAL. (Consent of the governed) Then the government CAN NOT have any more rights that an individual. Because it is the INDIVIDUAL who consented to allow the government to exercise the individual's rights. If it is wrong for an individual (Theft, Murder, Fraud) Then it is wrong for a government.

If you choose #1, the group has more rights than you are actually a serf whose rights are granted tofrom your "Master". It is just as simple as that

you do understand that this nation was founded under christianity right? hence "one nation under God" or "in God we trust"

remember that thing called the constitution? that thing that is so much forgotten? well it was written to create a free society, a free market and a free belief system.

it wasn't written to make a socialist nation. it was written so that we the people could eat what we want, drink what we want, buy and sell what we want and worship who ever we want.

it seems that so many people today feel that they are entitled to be taken care of especially by the government. well we are not imo. remember "life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness"? does that say " and the entitlement to federal payed welfare"?......... nope.

and by people thinking that they are entitled to be taken care of by the government, they give the gov the ability to run wild and take our rights away for our safety and well being.

its not conservatism that is destroying our nation. it is the power of the federal government ( for example the patriot act) and the entitlement belief ( for example, teachers that are letting our children down and getting better benefits than the parents who pay the teachers pay checks)

you want to heal our nation? vote against the federal government. vote against people living off of other peoples hard earned taxes. and fight for peoples freedom to live, spend and worship how ever they see fit.

I could dig out a huge amount of quotes from the Founding Fathers that completely destroys the whole "founded under Christianity" point.

"This would be the best of all possible worlds if there was no religion in it." -John Adams

"As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that ever existed?" - John Adams

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man." - Thomas Jefferson

"Lighthouses are more useful than churches" - Benjamin Franklin

That is only the tip of the iceberg.

Also the "In God We Trust" and "Under God" were only added during the Red Scare when the government had everyone looking under their beds for Soviet Boogeymen. It was added to "enhance" America's "superiority" over "atheist communists". No other reason.

But that isn't the main focus of this thread, so I'll stop here.

Oh and Originalism is an absolutely horrible political philosophy.
