Boy these cops are so desperately STUPID! Beating a guy right under the nose of hooligans?

We need to find a new job for these violent idiots!

They're not cops, they're Security Guards. Crowd reaction was perfect, but I have to wonder what would they've done with real cops.
If, as I suppose, the people hitting the guards were Portuguese (the sign the guy was showing said that the family was supporting the Portuguese referee), it wouldn't had make a difference, most people in Portugal do not fear the police.

But they do not fear the police because they do not have reasons for it, although there are some cases, police brutality in Portugal is very rare.

Its about time the public stepped in when seeing things like this, a guy runs across the pitch waving a banner it was hardley an air rifle, it takes 4 cops to get him on the ground and there all holding him down of course he's gonna struggle and it did look to me like one of the cops was giving him a good dig that was out of order.

As they say, What Goes Around Comes Around

This put a smile in my face, true justice.

Where was this anyways?

The cops think they can do what ever they want, just like governments these days. When people unite like this, that's when they will realize who is in charge.

This is an old video. Just shows that Portagees have bigger cojones than all you internet warriors in the US. This type of thing happens every DAY, while loads of onlookers just watch, afraid to do anything. Note how the pigs ran in fear once they didn't have the four to one advantage. They should have been torn limb from limb, and they are lucky they weren't.

I'm not trying to imply an opinion, but what is a valid direct response to ONGOING and CURRENT (words that are important here) unnecessary violence?

that's a good question that I don't have a simple answer to. like I originally stated, the guy wasnt a threat and I'm not sticking up for the cops. but fighting fire with fire doesn't work. the only thing that will happen from situations like this is that cops will be given MORE freedom for use of force to "protect" themselves. you really want to stop violence? stop breaking laws..... no one breaking laws = no jobs for cops. violence breeds violence. no one wins.

I don't know much about the officers themselves. But, in the United States each one is sworn to serve and protect. And most importantly to uphold the peace.

These officers were doing everything BUT upholding the peace by beating a man for doing no more than displaying a banner. At most, this person - who was obviously NOT suppose to be on the soccer field - should have been escorted off the field and kicked out of the game.

He should NOT have been beaten. I don't care if he wasn't doing what the officers told him to do. They're trained (or should be) to handle these types of incidents with a certain dignity. It's obvious that these rookies had no dignity.

They got what they deserved, in my opinion. Maybe next time they'll try to resolve an occurrence (it was 4 officers v 1 drunk guy, for God's sake) a bit more strategically.

Ummm if I remember correctly this video is OLD. Unless there is another video of football fans rushing the police/security like this.

yes, that guy knew very well he was gonna get slammed to the ground and taken away in cuffs, but he did it anyway. if he get slapped around the head , i really don't mind.
So You shouldn't feel bad for the cops then because they were being even bigger "dicks". Those pigs got what they deserved and more of them should get the same treatment. Police are nothing more than revenue collectors with the power to beat people and abuse power.

Peaceful protest accomplishes nothing. Violent revolution forces change.

If this took place in a western country, especially America - the police would open fire almost immediately and everyone would go jelly...

OUR GOVERNMENTS AND LAWS HAVE MADE US TOO SOFT.

You should know better.

In the US, it is very rare for citizens to "strike back" at police, with a scenario such as this one. Police usually only run into serious trouble when they serve high-risk warrants or encounter high-risk people as such. However, no one steps in when a wheelchair-bound man has his face smashed into the ground, or when 7 cops dog-pile an old man and taser him for 30 minutes. No one steps in.

Yet, curiously enough, the American police are more and more militarized and threatening on a yearly basis. They are a paramilitary force, they are no longer law enforcement officers. If more people stepped in, and took it upon themselves to stop aggressive police, then the police would have two options.

1. They get more aggressive, and violent, and further a continuous uprising from the population. It would continue to rise, until the police show their true colors, as they are seen razing public streets in America with their weapons. Then it escalates further, and the world finally gets to see what a huge pile of crap America really is. Hypocritical, deadly, and aggressive out-of-control authority. The same authority we berate other countries for having, when "dictators" gun down unarmed protesters. American police have gunned down unarmed citizens in staggering numbers. They have even shot up schools in the past via the National Guard. Something that if China did today, would have the UN or "America" itself in an uproar over so-called 'justice' and democracy.

2. They realize they have gone too far, and are going to lose a battle that can't be won. They'd have no choice but to become monsters to "win". So they turn in their armbands and Waffen-SS pins, stop taking steroids, possibly become intelligent human-beings on an organized scale, and reintegrate into society.

Complacency, cowardice and dogged shame from the entire US population is why the police in America are becoming more violent, and militarized. No one is stopping them, and showing the true reality of what is going on.

Two wrongs do not make a right

You beat me to it.

Apparently people don't realize this is a fallacy of logic.

Your whole persona is a fallacy of logic. You virtually terrorize threads with your ignorance and vitriol. Might I suggest you stick to your bible and stop being a heretic yourself.

if that happened at a major league sports arena, and the police opened fire on americans

do you really not see a nation wide riot happening?

because thats exactly what would happen, if police shot a crowd of people at a national GAME every police station in the country would be burned to the ground

lets be honest now

americans have been push overs, but do you really think they would stand for that?

i for one dont buy it

Wow, that's great. the ONE cop who told the other cop to stop using the baton on the perp is the cop who got the total crap kicked out of him starting with the first "soccer" kick. That's really something to rejoice about...a conscientious cop gets beat for trying to stop the bad cop...real justice...
