"They have destroyed two P-3c Orion aircraft," he added.

Last June, the United States delivered two P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft to PNS Mehran.

I've been listening to reports of this on BBC's World Service whilst reading this thread and other sourcesand can't quite get my head around the events..

Possible stored remains of the stealth helicopter used in the OBL raid
A 'reported' death of a Chinese national at the base
Destruction of two sophisticated maritime-warfare aircraft (read as anti-sub) plus destruction of other sensitive assets
Probable inside knowledge of assets at the compound
'Sophisticated weapons' and methods being use in the attack
Hostage situation developing within the compound

I can't quite believe what I'm seeing and hearing..has something fecal just struck the ocillating ventilator?

You have no idea, I've been waiting for months for this to happen, it has been too long coming though I'm afraid.

FYI, you can't trust much of anything being reported in the press right now, elements on all sides involved are putting out misinformation/disinformation and propaganda.

Relax for now, when --it hits the fan here, you'll know in a major way.

Good things can come from all of this, lives can be saved, a greater good can be done... But it will be costly.

IMO

yeah I have been listening to BBC as well, as someone said earlier in the thread, this was a highly coordinated attack. and what kind of terrorists runs into a navy base to fight? Don't they go for maximum carnage aganst civilans? Terrorist aim to terrorize the population, not strike at specific military targets! This is way too fishy to be totally true.

They each had a number of high-explosives and advanced weaponry and knew how to use them well. I don't think terrorist care about destroying intelligence either, but they did here.

I am never one for fearmongering but all this right after a U.S. chopper and pakistani ground forces having a skirmish is too coincidental.

All out war is inevitable as it seems.

You're are right, I also saw this coming...

I hate the word Propaganda.

PEACE to you all.

Another spokesman said that one P-3C Orion, a maritime partrol aircraft, had been destroyed. "The attackers are still inside and intermittent firing is continuing.
"They were equipped with sophisticated weapons," navy spokesman Commodore Irfan ul-Haq told Reuters

Destroyed aircraft

What could be that sophisticated weapons ?

ca.reuters.com...

Although not that sophisticated to the US, the Orion has been a
sub chaser for decades, Like Steven Segal's a cook.
I'm not here to stir the soup, but the gear to nip a first strike in the
bud does look like a good reason to pop what you just sold somebody.
And the Paki navy losing the Orions would have been a little extra
breathing space for the US AND Chinese boomers, wouldn't it?
Some extra incentive, maybe not. Flame away.

The remaining gunmen have taken several officials, including Chinese military personnel, hostage inside a building. Security officials say commandos are now being sent in to clear this area.

Ooooookay it's about time we move this to the WWIII forum, becasue China DOES NOT take threats to its citizen laying down.

The only thing you don't want to do to an isolationist country is mess with their citizens

As I said, you can't trust any news, there may be reports that the attackers have US personnel held hostage next.

If they do indeed have Chinese, then that would be sweet... Get them out of there, and interrogate them until they tell you everything they know. use "extraordinary rendition" if needed.

Time is running out... Mid-June isn't far away.

They haven't pushed far enough in my opinion.

This is one time where the right things are likely being done... You may want to reserve judgement for a while here.

If you're not at liberty to say what you 'Know' or what you think... then why the cliff-hanging replies?
