Wrongful death suit filed against La Marque police

Recent court documents explain that the decedent began to feel chest pains the evening of May 16, 2009, and went outside to get some air. He thought was he was suffering a heart attack so he flagged down a passing motorist for help, they say.

The driver, Keith Pope, called 911 and subsequently remained with Valentine until emergency responders arrived.

The plaintiffs argue that Garcia, Gandy and Keleman appeared instead of paramedics.

They allegedly drew their weapons on Valentine and instructed him to put his hands behind his back, disregarding his need for medical attention, the suit says.

According to the original petition, the policemen proceeded to punch, Taser and beat the decedent with their flashlights. Valentine was reported to have pleaded for his life to no avail.

The attacks in question left him with a "significant" gash in his scalp and labored breathing. An ambulance finally arrived some 30 minutes after the initial call, however, 20 minutes passed before paramedics lent assistance to Valentine, the plaintiffs say.

The decedent was rushed to a hospital in Houston, but the ambulance was rerouted to Mainland Medical Center in Texas City when he went into cardiac arrest. Valentine was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

I wish America's cops would form their own ``secret death squads`` like they had in Argentina post-collapse that would go, during the night, take out the scummy cops/politicians/judges... since the ``justice`` system will do nothing... Cops should take care of their own filth.

are you blind? You didnt see the officer on the lft clearly step infront of him TO PURPOSELY trip him forward? The "assault" by the wheelchair guy occured before the video started. The officers intention was to lift, and pile drive straight to the ground.. Dont try and say it was an accidet.

Wow, that is horrible that they did that to you. I am hearing stories they are or have been pulling over people and just taking their cash. The state of california was/is seizing safe deposit boxes for no reason and selling contents. The stories just go on and on how the gov't is doing everything possible to steal our money. I think we are worse than Communist Russia at this point. The only thing left is them demonizing some group of people and throwing them in FEMA camps.

Something is seriously going terribly out of control with police lately.

I didn't understand your point. Sarcasm? If you ask a police officer for his badge number, you get arrested. It happened to me. I could not stand to see them torture a guy so I stupidly said "What is your badge number?" I went to jail for that.

being that i am a big guy any time i have had to deal with the police its been in handcuffs in the back of the car then they interrogate.never since i was 15 have the police treated me like a person instead of a threat.

What kind of encounters were they, if you don't mind me asking? I mean, what were the situations?

No problem. I was only curious because the situation usually dictates who is in handcuffs. It's used more in the states than Canada for just general questioning, in unknown situations. But that is because Americans are crazy wackadoodles. haha.

But that tactic is utilized for safety. Acting like a human usually gets you treated like one. Usually.. haha.

Yes if you land on your head after being thrown down, and flattened by two officers, you probably will bleed from it, presuming you dont die fom a fractured skull. I don't know if the rules are the same in america, but any head trauma must be phoned straight in for ambulance support, to escort for an X-ray. It does reflect poor training. I've always been of the belief that police officers should have to do a year without a deadly weapon strapped to their side. Or any protective gear other than a bullet proof vest and a set of hand cuffs. However, within society, that is unrealistic. People are far more violent and disrespectful. This video doesn't help, either.

from experience.. Cops like to assume situations, and tend to be arrogant. Then if they happen to cuff you, they tend to get more physical once you're cuffed. They must get an orgasm from pushing restrained people around. I had my face slammed into windows ad trunks of cars only because, once you're cuffed your defensless.. And they take advantage.. Even when theiir detention of you was un warranted.. Though I have had many instances of good encounters with police officers..

One of these days a couple of these gorillas are going to get a little too confident and cross a line in front of a bunch of citizens, and the resultant YouTube video will be much different.

We'll see the cops getting the beatdown.

I can't wait for that one.
