I don't believe Obama has a real chance because I can't trust the medias portrayal of his chances. Unemployment figures are distorted, economic figuresare dstorted. You have folks like yourself praising the captain of the Titanic while the ship is sinking.
I guess we'll see in Nov of 2012, but I'm optimistic. We could see a Palin/Beck ticket and probably win!

You have folks like yourself praising the captain of the Titanic while the ship is sinking. Are you talking about your fellow Bush voters in 2004 or Mcmummy in 2008?

This mother is coming back wimpy bunny

Palin could win a retardation contest, neocon contest or maybe bingo

The majority of people I know are smarter than she is, you have got to be pretty "special" to look past the glaring fact.

Great points

I fully agree, if FOX NEWS (who encouraged the "anti conservative principles to no end) remains the
mouth of conservatism, you guys will run a batcake and lose. Conservatism got tainted by the southern
Democratic rejects of '64, Reagans Randisms and the resulting full bore, corporatist attitudes.

I mean there use to be many pro union conservative group members in my family, my Grandpas entire
social circle were conservative, unionized steel working Masons and church goers.

Now those folks would not vote for the majority of the mess you guys run.

I hope Misoirs type boots the rest of yall to troll patch

I'd counter that by saying the 'Democrat Reject's' of '64 were enlightened libertarians abandoning a morally decrepit and wasteful ship that had foundered long ago.
The GOP got the cream and you were left with the shambles
To this day the DP has been worse for ware following those heady days...

OBAMA IS NOT A SOCIALIST.

If you actually talk to any REAL SOCIALISTS they'll laugh in your face if you were to call Obama one. Obama is MUCH CLOSER to a moderate American corporatist than a true Social Democrat. You see REAL SOCIAL DEMOCRACY (i.e. Democratic Socialism) in places like modern Germany, France, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, etc. and their systems are actually running quite well. The people are MUCH more satisfied with certain fundamental socialized services than people are with crucial over-priced, privatized, for-profit social services.

Nice flame attempt. lol

I'm surprised you didn't come right out with the Racist remarks. Must be early.

I wish the mods would make "race baiting" an offense equivalent to "political trolling."

You ruined your own thread. It started out as a topic worthy of discussion, and quickly devolved into stupid.

I am sure their were some libertarians, aside, in the case of what was happening, wet noodles or cowards
depending on how you look at it. Why don't you look at the energies of these Democratic rejects and see
if losing them from the democratic party was good.

The GOP went from housing MLK to running David Duke -

I think then needs to be at least 5 viable parties myself, this system is suckass

Ron Paul comes close, but we all know the GOP would never let him really win.

Ron Paul will never get the elderly vote. He is fundamentally against Social Security and Medicare. Also add in the fact that he wants to legalize ALL drugs....i'm sorry it will never happen.

My father is a Republican....always votes Republican straight across the board....he is also completely dependent on Social Security and Medicare. He was hurt severely in a car accident while working (used to drive a truck) and can no longer work. He is on hardcore painkillers just to help with the pain.

He's not happy on what they are doing...and has told me repeatedly if they ever touch either program or try to privatize it he will never vote for a Republican again.

I love my old man...and if any of the Republican SOB's hurt him there will be hell to pay....and I know I'm not alone in feeling that way.

Personally, I think SS needs to been taken out of the hands of the Gov't and put in the hands of the individual---IF the individual chooses such.

Freedom of choice. I also think that none of the current plans being floated will be the path we go on. Needs work and they have to start with younger folks-no across the board, all at once thing.

No easy way... probably take decades for any private way to actually work well.

My reasoning for the Gov't not being in charge of it is because of exactly what they have done to it now. If anything, a bi-partisan (meaning of gov't and private) over-watcher of sometype-that can be independent and not determined by politics alone.

Look, I'm not going to sit here and try to say that government is the greatest and does everything right...obviously it doesn't. We all know this...no matter what side or political affiliation you are aligned with.

That being said, how long we are able to live should not be dictated on profits.

Do you agree? Don't you want to live as long as you possibly can...and your family and friends included? Do you think it's fair or perfectly fine that someone who makes more than you can get better care and live longer....only because you make less money and they make more?

Do you have a relative on Social Security or Medicare?

GAWD!!!! Can someone please start a thread on FACTS of what Obama has accomplished?

It would be a kind of short list.

Wouldn't garner too many stars or flags.

Obama Sends Republicans to the back of the bus

He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, "we can't have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."

Don't be so sensitive. It's the weekend baby!!

Oh ok. Sorry for the misunderstanding. It happens, im not perfect. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction of the source of the quote. Sorry again, I wasnt calling you racist or anything, just asking a question into the statement. But now as far as having a racist mind set, I dont think I have that. I can tell you I have been called the "N" word to many times. Greatfully not on ATS. Id'e like think that the people here are above that. Still though it sucks but what can I do?! AT any rate, I cant say that I am a 100% Obama supporter, and not because he's black or what ever he says he is. I still have to wait and see the entire playing field before I make a decision though. You know the grass isnt always greener on the other side, but sometimes its worth the chance. I think Obama will have a very interesting race to say the least, all in all though the decision lies with the TPTB. they pick whom they want according to their plans. I'll just wait and see. I wouldnt say he's dilusional, what president wouldnt want to run for another term? Unless they were just tired and ready to move on, or impeached. Rome wasnt built in one day, and our country and its systems are wayyyyyyyy larger than Rome. it will take time no matter whos in office. I think thats safe to say.

PS: reguardless whos in office, the people wont like him or her! you never know.

Thanks and sorry again.
