Health Workers call for Ronald McDonalds retirement

www.npr.org

A bunch of health professionals are ratcheting up the pressure on McDonald's to change the way it markets its wares.

In an open letter to the company's CEO published in newspapers across the country signed by hundreds of doctors, nurses and others linked the company's marketing of unhealthful food to children to the rise in obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

How about parents take personal responsibility and stop letting their kids get so fat? Why is it in America we always look to blame someone else for what WE do, it's as if parents refuse to take responsibility for allowing their kids to be unhealthy......it's as if they just can't believe it's THEIR fault.

You hit the nail on the head! There is no such thing as accountability in American society anymore. It must have left on the same train as courtesy.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with the parents and everything to do with marketing. I have a three year old that wants everything he sees that has anything to do with cartoon characters, whether he knows who they are/what they are selling or not. So you can't point fingers at every parent and play the blame game. They hire professionals to target a specific audience (in this case, children) and they sink their claws into them with everything they've got.

And for the record, my toddler doesn't watch television because of this...

However, he still knows who Ronald McDonald is. Despite the fact that we eat and promote organic, healthy foods.

But you have the power to say no, and I commend you. the parents are the ones that control their childrens diets

Most kids think (and rightfully so) that clowns are disturbing or outright frightening anyway.

Blaming Ronald for kids getting fat on McD's food is kinda like me blaming half-shirted breasts for getting fat off Hooter's wings & beer. Parents need to learn the word "no." which is a task and a half considering most of the young adults having kids right now rarely heard that word themselves growing up.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Already posted.

It is funny they call for this and not the end of game boxes, crap on TV, or parental responsibility.
