Nuts. I was eager to believe in honest human ingenuity.

Is cold fusion just as silly and invalid as that orgone energy nonsense or a variety of hackneyed Tesla side projects? Or is it just too difficult and expensive to be plausibly achieved by a small group of people like this.

Depends on who you want to believe.

Cold Fusion experimentally confirmed

There are a lot of ppl staking their credibility on the fact it does work.

The lady at the SPAWAR facility is the one that lead to the peer review article
being printed in EE times.

When they went to liquid palladium the experiment could easily and quickly
be reproduced versus the 2 weeks required by the two chemists in 1989.

I agree that the "wait and see" is the best pathway. In fact , over the next two years or so, there will be several more technologies based on LENR/CANR that will come to light. The evidence is overwhelming but still not PC. No one understands yet what is quite happening but the effect is seen more and more often. There are many who would cast aspersions and there is a great deal of noise on the web. From the hot fusion R&D folks to big oil, many want this to go away. People in Hell want ice water, too. It isn't going away.
To set the record straight, Rossi's legal troubles started when his business took garbage and made combustible oil from it. The Camorra had a big business in garbage and this would cut into it. What was completely within the law was suddenly deemed illegal. Rossi was put out of business and imprisoned. He has since been declared not guilty but his business was destroyed along with his good name.
After that event, he stayed with biofuels with EON, srl, making generator sets that ran on biodiesel from seed oils. No Camorra, no problem.

We will now wait and see what happens.

So why was he selling his stuff to companies that weren't operating?

And he added a curious detail: the best customers of the Dragon Petrol included a paper mill in the province of Frosinone, that between January '1991 and March' in 1992 had acquired 600 tons of fuel self-sufficient. Too bad that the factory had stopped production since '90.

Anything else to show "He has since been declared not guilty but his business was destroyed along with his good name."

Because on his own site he says he has 5 convictions. Unless you are saying he received a pardon? I don't understand this.

Those 56 prosecutions, for which he was incarcerated, end up with an acquittal of all processes for tax reasons, derived from bankruptcy by the closure of Omar and Petroldragon, 5 of them ended with a conviction, which would justify the period of preventive imprisonment for the accusations that led to the arrests.

Taken from Rossi's website.

What he says is that he received five convictions out of all the charges, but his sentence was given as "time served" for his pretrial custody.

So I'm not sure where the statement that: He has since been declared not guilty, comes from...

I think it works on the principle called halo nuclei where a proton or neutron orbits the nucleus and do not bind directly but are held by an order of magnitude less binding energy than the other fermions in the nucleus. These halo nuclei occur along drip lines as isotopes with too many protons or neutrons. The H proton combines in a low power reation with Ni and Cu nuclei. ???
