its not just the op that thinks this is strange read this one ...

somethings amiss here !!! ???

Two different European earthquake monitoring sites (here and here) reported an 8.4 earthquake deep inside the Libyan desert about 30 miles southeast of Sinawin on May 19. The epicenter was approximately 120 miles south of the Mediterranean coast and roughly 200 miles southwest of Tripoli. Here are the earthquake details:

Is this earthquake being censored? If so, was it a subterranean detonation in a remote desert location to safely demonstrate Libya’s nuclear capabilities to its Western attackers? The West would certainly want to contain that information to prevent widespread panic since a 50 megaton nuke could utterly wipe out an entire metropolis. Was the earthquake the result of a NATO attack? Or was the earthquake a real, natural event or simply a strange glitch on a pair of seismic instruments?

there asking the same questions

food for thought ?

ww3 ??

i hope not

No what we have here is one site - EMSC - that received a signal in Strasbourg that had got corrupted and correctly posted the information. Once reviewed it was removed. We then have another site, and many forums, who are not interested in doing any research but are happy to spout erroneous information without a care in the world.

There is nothing significant about this except the stupidity of some earthquake so called monitoring sites that are not capable or prepared to recheck information received. It did not take 5 minutes to find the seismo that caused the problem and see that there was no event. If I can do it then so can anyone else.

How often do seismic misreadings happen ?

And search the web to try to find your answer.

If the answer is quite regularly, then odds are that's what it is.
If the answer is never or very rarely, then it's time to dig further with more questions.

Exactly - research!!!!!

Answer, fairly frequently and these false readings have produce quakes as high as 8.5 before. There will be several, normally much lower and therefore not noticed, events such as this in the course of a year. It is basically an artefact of the telemetry systems used to send the data to the central database. Signals get corrupted and the computers at the central receiving area perceive a sudden increase in signal after a line drop as an earthquake event.

You can read about one such event here which explains this.
