"Bill Clinton thinks that an internet agency needs to be created to fix all the rumors and misinformation that is spread online."

Then the "official story" would be the only story. Wouldn't that make their job of barrel rolling the proletariat easy!

Bill Clinton doesn't want a Ministry Of Truth as the first thing they would do is tell him to quit lying about his Peyronie's disease.....and get things "straiten" out..... "Crooked" Adulter......

We have the truth already. It's called the Intrawebz or something like that. What Clinton wants is to shut us the hell up!

Never thought it could get so bad, and so quickly.

Seems we are getting assaulted on all fronts.

Now we are flat-out being told what to think. And by our government. You know...the ones who have never lied to us and have always had our best interests at heart.

Yeah, those guys.

Sheesh!

That was funny. Clinton The Liar talking about how we need to have an agency to correct the lies on the internet. Hypocrite much?

Another step, in a long line of baby steps, to wrestle control of what people think from the people themselves and give it to those `who know better´.

THis is a job for the UN.
That way it can appear to be impartial.

He's pining for the good ole days when the Liberals had the "Fairness Doctrine" in place and they could control what was fair to say and was was not fair to say. Nothing negative was to be said about liberals and their government largess because that was "right wing extremism." In those days, everyone on television and radio agreed with the liberal overlords; there was not so much "divisiveness."

Mr. Clinton would like to "progress" back to the days of Rino and Democrat liberal speech control on the airwaves and extend that glorious "unity" of "smart" speech and thought to the Internet. They would do it in a New York minute because socialism can not thrive with free speech exposing it's abuse of freedom and all the eggs who are purposefully broken in service to the one and only government group think. This is why free speech is never a part of Marxist Utopia.

I remember those days. It was surreal to live in a country where you never read nor heard your own ideas and experiences and observations. It is "race hate" to speak of a justice system that made sure violent criminals were free and innocent citizens dead. Reverse discrimination flourished because, we were told, whites did not have equal rights. We were graduating "students" who could not read and everyone knew it, but no one ever said anything about it because that was "racist." The Leftist intellectuals could dream up a scheme to serve their ideology without the messy problem of being confronted by "extremists" about what they were doing.

Lets all just laugh at him as loud as we can....

Truth and Clinton, two words that do not combine and should never be used in the same sentence.

Cosmic...

Actually its not a job for anyone.

Why advocate censorship even if its not truthful.

What happened to Freedom of Speech?

So now we have 1984 coming to truth. The Ministry of Truth. Shame on Bill Clinton For Trying to censor Freedom of Speech and Thought.

Soon enough if they have their ways we will have machines reading our thoughts and will be charged with thought crimes.

Shame. We need a revolution now.

Freedom of speech is harder and harder to justify because it's so easy for what we say to spread across the world. What we say is a lot more powerful these days. 200 years ago what we said mostly stayed put because of primitive technology. But nowadays it has the potential to circle the world. See the difference? That's why it can be dangerous if it's not moderated.

They don't want to tell lies or make bad good. This is about people being more responsible.

People who don't want moderation are the kind of people who don't want to be responsible.

You have got to be joking. They don't want to make lies or make bad good?! That is what our government is doing now! They make war/bad look like its necessary/good. All these wars are built on lies. I don't mean to be rude but your post is a little off to me.

Ummm................. what?

You must not be an american citizen, or must not know what the constitution is...

But we have a RIGHT to Free Speech... Which can not be taken away... which breaks down to the fact that no matter the technology, We still have the RIGHT to Free speech... Just because somebody might not like what you say, does not mean you cant say it... Look at that west borough baptist church... THEY ARE PROTECTED UNDER THE FIRST AMENDMENT...

Theres no need to justify ANYTHING... its already justified for us, by our Founding Fathers!

FIRST AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Johnnywhite you can enjoy your spoon fed "truth" but for me, I like the ability to hear more than one biased side and sift through the b.s. to decide for myself what is true and what isn't.

so, who do we consult to find out if something we want to say might offend people half a world away? or should we just all keep our mouths shut for fear of offending somebody?

is it responsible to cower in fear and cater to the most sensitive/extreme members of the global community? or would it be more responsible to explain ourselves and let everyone know that this is how we live.

i do not modify my behavior to suit anyone's idea of what is and is not acceptable. i don't make "safe" statements for fear of retribution from some other culture which won't even fully understand what I'm saying.

why does it matter that folks overseas can hear us now? this is american free speech, if some foreigners have a problem with it, they're more than welcome to come over here and try to take it away. oh, and, were you up in arms over middle eastern nations not having a MOT when they were burning american flags in the streets and celebrating 9-11? that certainly contributed to global hostilities, no?

as for the OP, how would a MOT be implemented? if it is just some new propaganda arm of the government, then whatever. they already waste our tax money on stupid, self-serving nonsense anyway. if it would have anything to do with actual censorship, or taking sites/comments down in the name of "safety" then no, thank you. i like my free speech just fine and i'm willing to deal with the consequences.

Not that I agree with Clinton, but I can respectfully say that he was one of the better presidents in our modern times, blow job aside.

I personally think that News Organizations should not be Partisan, Biased or allowed to knowingly lie to their viewers. Opinion articles have their place, but when Fox News (for example) lies to their viewers not only are they doing a disservice to their viewers, but they are also assisting in the skewing of elections.

I think our freedoms are very important and I don't think that there should be an establishment, etc...but I think ALL news organizations have gone too far with their lack of facts, straight up lies and skewing their audience towards a left or right ideal.

I think as soon as you adopt a "News" moniker then you should be held to a certain level of integrity.

Rupert Murdoch went to court to prove that News does not equal fact. I wish there were laws in place that say otherwise.

You are right for the most part, but you have to mention that our free speech only goes so far. Can't encroach on other people's rights for example utilizing your free speech.
