Sanctions are always the first step towards future military action......same thing was done with Iraq. Weaken them economically before you attack.

There are many conflicting reports regarding the uprising in Syria....western media portrays Syrian government as ruthlessly killing innocent protestors when there are alternative news sources that say many of these protestors have been armed.

So who's wrong in this case?

Once again hypocrisy in the application of International Law.

Here we have Israel attacking and killing protestors in the recent Nabka Day ......will we see sanctions and action against them? More than likely not...so why against anyone else?

www.globalresearch.ca...

Unlike previous years, this Nakba Day was not simply a commemoration of the catastrophe that befell the Palestinians in 1948, when their homeland was forcibly reinvented as the Jewish state. It briefly reminded Palestinians that, despite their long-enforced dispersion, they still have the potential to forge a common struggle against Israel.

Along the northern borders, at least 14 protesters were killed and dozens wounded, both at Majdal Shams in the Golan and near Maroun al-Ras in Lebanon.

In Gaza, a teenager was shot dead and more than 100 other demonstrators wounded as they massed at crossing points. At Qalandiya, the main checkpoint Israel created to bar West Bank Palestinians from reaching Jerusalem, at least 40 protesters were badly injured. There were clashes in major West Bank towns too.

Russia/Iran know the writings on the wall and what to expect in the future......so the question remains.....

if you knew that you will be attacked next, will you premeditately attack first?

Once Syria is taken out, Iran is next.....Russia and Chine must be in the cross hairs in the next decade you would think.

yup all these protests are manufactured, remember the feb 17 libya protests were started only by outsiders and they weren't the real libyans, you what else is interesting?

Why the kingdom of Saudi Arabia hasn't been hit by these same protests? It two has a dictator king yet no wide large riots, rebels, protests haven't hit Saudi Arabia.

Because Saudi Arabia has US bases and the elites know that if Saudi Arabia has the manufactured riots they will hurt the marines stationed there, this is why they are avoiding Saudi Arabia atleast for the time been.

As for why there are protests in Syria its all because the russians were planning to build a huge naval base there, the first naval base since the cold war supposedly ended.

But with the tactics the amercian NGOs are going with, it seems cold war is still very much alive.

From BBC News (last updated 17.55pm)

US President Barack Obama says a "new chapter in American diplomacy" has been turned after the Arab Spring uprisings.

In a speech at the State Department, Mr Obama said the future of the US was bound to the Middle East by forces of economics, security, history and fate.

"It will be the policy of the US to promote reform across the region and to democracy," Mr Obama said.

Analysts say the speech was meant as Mr Obama's first comprehensive response to revolts sweeping the Arab world.

Mr Obama was widely expected to defend new sanctions on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

The future of the US is bound to the ME? I wonder what he means by that!

Some details of the speech were revealed in advance by senior administration officials.

Mr Obama was to stress that Washington stands ready to help nations across the Middle East and North Africa to launch democratic reforms, modernise and provide job opportunities to millions of disenchanted young people.

He was to argue that such measures will help democracy take hold and thrive and deliver the regional stability that is in the interests of the US government.

Does Obama have no understanding of the differences between American/western democracy and Islamic democracy? As far as I can see, the 'Arab Spring' is about the overthrow of non theocratic regimes that are sympathetic to western values.

Analysts say Mr Obama's speech will be aimed at convincing his US audience that the fate of countries in the Middle East and North Africa is worth the money and effort even during difficult economic times at home.

To his wider audience, Mr Obama wants to underline that Washington stands behind those seeking greater human rights.
