I could spend forever looking at this stuff.

Sadly, I found a couple of homeless areas

erm. It has to reload when you zoom in. I really don't see how this is any different than google image. Is it a single frame image? because It don't look like it.

wow, incredible. So these kinds of cameras are on satellites as well i'm sure. And they couldn't tell if Bin Laden was at that compound or not... sure..
They can see everything from up there.

Looks cool, but I'm not that impressed. Imagine what would happen if you took something like the Hubble Telescope and pointed it toward the earth. As if intelligence agencies world-wide aren't doing that already.

S & F'd nonetheless.

Seriously though this is frigging awesome.

The sky anomolies imo are fast moving birs, thats whhy they look strange and blurry.

Way to much power to be put into the hands of man, sadly once again something awesome will be abused.
This post out of all the posts to me is the scariest of all.

This is awesome, star & flag!
Now I want a digital camera of that power, lol
A much, much greater level of power than a consumer should ever have, but very cool tech, lol

In case some of you were wondering how these kind of images exist, they are made using a machine called a "Gigapan" and it takes an insane amount of photos with whatever camera you mount to it and stitches them together using software to make it viewable as you see it. These weren't taken as "one", a camera sensor along with a lens required for such resolution just doesn't exist.

Hi guys!

Thought I'd share this with you. Now get a load of this.

The world’s first 111 giga-pixel image!

It’s remarkable how far we’ve reached in technology. I wish this sort of stuff is made available for all future unmanned missions to the Moon and Mars. Then we can see if there’s something really out there and put to rest the conspiracies once and for all!

Ok, this first image is a screen shot of something without zooming in. I’ve marked it with a yellow arrow. Here….

So, what do you think it is? Check it out in the next image….. Yep! It’s a little one foot square pedestrian crossing signboard !!

Mind boggling resolution, eh?

And here’s the link to that giga image. Scroll around and enjoy!

This is how it was done….www.sevilla111.com...

Thanks to mike who sent me the link.

You're forgetting that everything that is the latest technology available to the public has been available to the government for decades.

IOW, government photos of the moon's surface aren't the same quality that are released to the public.

I am awestruck. I found a far away sign that was actually "linked" to another page on the website. What I am wondering is whether or not the government has technology like this for use on satellites. Can you imagine if there have been satellites in space for years that allow the military/government to view any location in the world with this much clarity?

If they do not have them, after this I am sure they soon will. I am simply speechless. This is the coolest thing I have seen in a while.
