It doesn't matter how big, or little a company or person is finacially. The government has no right to take the money of anyone. Our country was founded on anti-taxism for craps sake.

If they can't run off of fundraising and the charity of the common citizen, then they have no right to be in office or running the country in the first place. When a government is allowed to tax, it will always find new reasons to raise tax. It is similar to the housing bubble but has built up over the decades, it will burst under it's own weight just as well too.

We need a free market, that is why subsidizing oil (or anything else) is not good for the market, going to war for oil isn't good for the market either. Nothing the government does is good for the market.

So what do you do when the market is poised to execute America because it is profitable to do so?

It makes financial sense to do so, so what do you do then? You on the side of your ideas or your people?

edit on 17-5-2011 by Janky Red because: (no reason given)

I wouldn't blame that on the market, I'd blame government intervention. Governments working with or for corporations big or small is never a good thing and history has shown us that those type of relationships never end well. I'm always on the side of the people, the government is not though, the government only cares about its self and making sure they look good.

The market is not a person, it is like you are assigning a conscience to it. The market would be very smart to
liquidate Americas asests and recapitalize in a cheaper, third world market. You can get ten to fifty more people for the same money, per person, is that too hard for you to understand 'Joint? The market is ripe to kill off America, it may
conflict with your ideas, but doing so would be the most profitable thing,,, which nation is the wealthiest?

As far as government goes, you get what you get, why anyone would put people in charge of something that they hate is insanity to me. I hate government, elect me! I hate dogs, hire me to be your pet sitter!

I love rich people who comprise the elite, therefore I will thwart their plans

America will be eaten, to protect the right to eat America.

That is true

It is also true that Americans were trying to escape the privately retained power of the monarchy too.

And I am real sure that the founding fathers did not believe that the nation should be raided by anyone who
can figure out a better way to raid. If they intended the nation to be defense-less to economic circumstance
they would have omitted or created no avenue to act....

I am not sure of the validity of taxes, I am sure this approach is moving away from what once worked very well.

Many of the first presidents and founding fathers began warning of the european banks...it's just that nothing was done. Monetary threats just don't move people in the way that a physical danger will(war, imprisonment, ect).

I still blame the government for that, our government gave the corporations their super powers and our military might, monopolies over, farming, healthcare, technology, etc. If the government got out of the market and enforced the law we wouldn't be in this mess.

The government created the same monsters that you hate, but you still protect the government?

The government has no right to take the money of anyone.

So you don't believe in the minimum wage? Social Security? Medicare? Unemployment benefits? Military Spending? Road construction and/or infrastructure spending? Bankruptcy?....need I go further?

The middle class was the strongest when the wealthiest americans...the top .1 percent...payed over 90 percent in capital gains. Only one parent had to work and could still afford a home. Our education system was better as a parent was usually able to stay home and always be there for their kids. They had pensions....good health and dental plans...many paid for by the factories they worked for.

And now that's all gone.....and all to get more money for those at the top.

Is this your stance? Is this all ok with you?

Yeah, but that was after WWII though, the U.S would've had that kinda prosperity no matter what the tax rates were.

So you don't believe in the minimum wage?
it regulates stupidity. If you have some sort of skill, you give a bid on what your time is worth.
Social Security?
What, saving a few bucks over 30-50 years of work is impossible? I can dispense my own earnings.
Medicare?
It promotes high prices in health care. What happened to house calls and cheap meds?
Unemployment benefits?
Again save money if you foresee the possibillity.
Military Spending
Constitution stipulates its every male of a certain age and up is the millitary. Can't you afford guns to kill invading armies? We are not ment ti be an impirialist state, lest leave the rest of the world. its a great place to visit but i dont want to live there.
Road construction and/or infrastructure spending?
Donations, when needed.
Bankruptcy?
what about it?

The government can not predetermine(or give) a happy life for all people. Sometimes we fail, how is this the governments buisness? America was the "great experiment"(spelled wrong), not Europe 2.0
I have no middle class, 50's esque nostalgia. I just want to live on some land, and be human for once. But living is now a taxable offence no?

But you do realize that in conservatives swept EVERY open spot there would still be the same number
of bodies in those building and halls? tell me how conservatives can claim to be less involved with government
when they occupy the same space in that government?

The government is comprised of people, the corporation was granted such power because of people, probably with similar views to yours

Why can't anyone just comment on the big elephant in the room here? This vote split pretty much down the party lines and the Republicans own this one. Make this very clear - It is the REPUBLICANS who continue to vote for tax breaks for big oil. From CNN:
www.cnn.com...

"Three Democrats and two Republicans crossed sides in the 52-48 vote, preventing the bill from reaching a required 60-vote threshold for passage. Republicans opposed the measure, arguing the big five oil companies would pass any tax increases to consumers in the form of higher gas prices...."

I wish people would stop blaming this on vague things like "big government" or the "elite". It's the REPUBLICANS, get that through your head please and quit tip-toeing around it.

Is "anti-taxism" even a word?

You have a point but at the same time, corporations like GE need to pay their fair share!

The Republicans consistently do this Neo

This overt corporatism is not the act of a socialist.

You can't logically assign every bad thing to one group, GOP owns this relation

If you would like I can link you to past votes???

I bet you know enough that you don't have to see it for yourself.

Liberals push entitlements

Conservatives push Corporatism

I don't see your point. Give the government more control, because "certain people" with in the government gave corporations control? Corporations are not a product of the free market, in a truly free market, capital might pool into firms, but they wouldn't be like state chartered corporations that we see today, because there would be no monopoly provider of legal personhood.

Anyone that thinks the free market is the operating system in the US is an absolute fool. Ever hear of speculation, moron? It works on a global scale, is hidden from the ordinary investor, and only has fantasy controls imposed.
Elite corporatist don't have to consider the market....they control the market and laugh at the "little people"
as they promote their wars and profit in blood. The big players have think tanks devoted entirely to social manipulation, media, marketing, propaganda, etc.

Just because you want the world to operate in a certain way, doesn't mean squat.
Anyone that thinks that business operates in a moral, 1950s mindset deserves everything they get. Bend over chump, and take it, don't complain, comply and stfu.
