WASHINGTON – The Obama administration laid out plans Monday to work aggressively with other nations to make the Internet more secure, enable law enforcement to work closely on cybercrime and ensure that citizens everywhere have the freedom to express themselves online.

And in the strongest terms to date, the White House made it clear the U.S. will use its military might to strike back if it comes under a cyberattack that threatens national security.

The Pentagon says that military force will be the last option, if under cyber attack.

"We reserve the right to use all necessary means — diplomatic, informational, military and economic — as appropriate," the policy says. It adds, however, that the U.S. will exhaust all options before military force is used.

It looks like the US is taking the lead role in the global "internet". Looks like there will problably be global "standards" for using the internet in the future.

Clinton and other federal agency leaders said the U.S. will reach out to other nations to set voluntary standards for prosecuting cybercriminals, protecting intellectual property, securing networks, and pursuing terrorists who use cyberspace to plan attacks and woo followers.

Question - Would people protesting against a current government be called terrorists?

Where do the people get a say in this?

Who appointed the despotic, criminal, mafia US government to police of every aspect of people's lives across the world?

I say

NOT IN MY NAME. NEVER, EVER IN MY NAME. I DO NOT CONSENT.

This makes me feel very uneasy. I'm all for free speech as long as it's not inciting hate, abuse and violence but this is like global social control, isn't it? What say do we get in all this anyway?

To be honest I don't think they'd use force as a last resort.

Funny as the US intel/crime units seem to be responsible for most terror threats and kiddy porn out there. It also poses a lot of questions what their definitions mean. For example if I by chance download launch codes to some nuclear site am I then a threat ? Or is the US threatening themselves for not having secure systems and basically leaking sensitive data?
Also who will review this "evidence" it seems very easy to point out possible terrorist and hack their servers to upload evidence. Also why would their laws apply to sovereign entities?

Knowing how flexible the US is in stretching these definitions it can be applied to anything basically it seems. Very worrying to say the least. Luckily sites like Bitcoin, Digital-currencies and others are making an active stance against the corrupt governments mostly by not accepting their authority or ignoring any requests for IPs etc.

Anonymous is going to switch to DC coding I heard so really no way for anyone to decrypt that code. Even if they would use all the computing power they have, the sheer amount of data will overload them. It's interesting as well to see that there seems to be a counter movement that basically states that some governments are not taken seriously any longer and their laws are not applicable due to the fact that these countries violate basic human rights and are actually classified as terrorist states. As these entities are non violent non profit organizations it's gonna be hard to close down their operations.
