No, you have a valid point. I've seen a doco which followed the Australian Coast guard (i think it was), and they did exactly what you described - a shi ignored their request to stop so they fired across it's bow. It stopped. They boarded it. All legal and no problems.

Yes, the Australian Coast Guard can do that in Australian waters..

The Israeli blockade on Gaza is NOT legal..
Israel point blank refuses to declare war or admit they are the occupying force so they can not declare a blockade..
They refuse to admit anything because then by their dubious standards, there are NO rules..

The nation of Israel is under attack daily - and they have the right to defend their borders. To ignorantly wander into their seas during this particular time of heavy attacks on all sides DEFIES LOGIC.

Israel was obviously circumspect because the boat survived & no one was harmed. If harm had been intended, the boat would be GONE.

No other nation in the world would be so heavily criticized for this.

The problem is it is called a humanitarian ship carrying humanitarian cargo.

Isreal should confiscate it and get all the news crews over to it and watch them unload it so the press can see the humanitarian aid.

If it is truly aid and medical supplies then isreal pays to have it all loaded back on and apologives to the whom ever sent the ship and then let it pass through.

This is nothing more of trying to push isreal to attack because they know it is loaded with arms and other stuff.

Just saying if it is aid inspect it down to the last rat on board and then if it is clear apologize and send it through.

It is that simple.

But you need the media there to report and I mean all the media and not just Hearratz.

Case close do you see how easy this stuff is to solve.

Under international law and UN charter, and because Israel has gaza blockaded, any vessels destined for Gaza can be intercepted, even in International waters. Israel can determine where aid vessels are to dock and the cargo can be inspected before continuing on to Gaza. This is the same issue from the last floatilla, where several ships disregarded warnings to divert to an Israeli port for inspection and off load of cargo.

Gaza does not have a deep water port and cannot offload the vessels, although they claim to use makeshift barges, unloading from the larger vessel into smaller ones.

REgardless of personal feelings, Israel has a right to inspect any and all cargo heading to Gaza.

The ship wasn't attacked by Israel. And neither by the Egyptians. The Egyptians came to rescue the boat since they were already in Egyptians waters. Realising this, the Israelis fled the scene.

you need to look farther down the page as there are links to other pages from ACLU and even links to the bill being put through congress.

It is not right that they are sneaking the provision in allowing the POTUS to do as he wants and invade any country.

This ship in fact could be carrying humanitarian aid but I'm sure there is more to it, if not to incite a war against Israel. Thanks to all the big players out there that deny everything they are doing and hiding behind the white house.

This is not just about Israel, these extremists are after one thing Caliphate.

Attacking a humanitarian vessel in open waters is considered an act of war.

The reason they take this so seriously is not because of just the weapons that are smuggled in its because Iran payer China to put nuclear spent rods on a aid ship and the Iranians loaded the ship down with explosives. It would have made half of Jerusalem unhabitable. We intercepted it before it got there. America

I lost all respect for the ISF after watchiing a video of Jewish kids throwing rocks at Palestinian children and women- and the guys just stood there and told them to stop. Didn't escort away. Didn't shield the mother and other children. After witnessing that kind of neglect, I do not even want to imagine what they will do to people when SHTF or say something HUGE happens and everybodys eyes are forced elsewhere.

Remember the fact that this supposed "democratic" 1st world country still needs humanitarian flotilla speaks for its self.
Why don't they just let it hit shore and watch the guys unload it?

I don't have a good answer as to what we do with this conflict, but I can tell you now strangling a society to death won't help the problem. You can't choke food supplies and employment in order to secure other people.

this is the way i look at it. if all the anti-israel countries over there put down all their arms and stopped suicide bombing and shooting rockets, israel would stop too. now picture an unarmed israel in the middle east, they would get invaded so quickly and mass genocide would ensue.

the israelies would have let the cargo enter the gaza strip with the last flotilla of humanitarian aid if they stopped at an israeli port and everything was inspected. if they really cared about helping gaza with food and medical supplies, that is exactly what they would have done.

warning shots across the bow isn't an attack, its a warning. you can't blame israel for wanting to make sure they aren't letting weapons and rockets into gaza. that will just result in more death on both sides.

if israel does something wrong, criticize away, but don't make things up to paint them as worse than they are. that is called propaganda.

In regards to Congress allowing the President to take unilateral military action without its consent, I think the last decade has made it abundantly clear that this law is just a formality. The President already takes unilateral military action without congress, or legal consequence. We have already lost America. Its old news. If you give a damn about democracy, or retaking the country, then vote for Ron Paul. It is just about the only thing with any possibility of making a difference. A possibility so small its almost not even worth mentioning, mind you. At this point, I only hope the people responsible live to suffer through, and regret what they have done. There is truly no punishment that fits the crimes of these scumbags.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
FACT is that Israel is the one breaking international law by:
1.) Implementing and enforcing an ILLEGAL blockade.
2.) Ignoring UN requests to cease their offensive on the Gazan people and to discontinue the blockade.
3.) Being an occupying force in Gaza and slowly forcing the population into extremism and eventually death.
4.) Establishing ILLEGAL settlements on non-Israeli land.
5.) Destroying entire villages and either arresting or killing the villagers who resist and removing people from their own land.
6.) Illegally detaining thousands of Palestinians and Gazans without due process.
7.) Denying Gazans basic needs such as medicine, food, water and by tactically and deliberately destroying critical infrastructure etc.
8.) Harassing the(civilian) relief-vessels that are trying loosen the stranglehold that Israel has on Gaza by attacking them in international waters while having absolutely no authority to do so.

I can go on....

If you would open your eyes, remove the bias to get your ass into neutral-mode and look at the facts, your conclusion WILL BE that Israel is committing nothing short of genocide and has been doing so for decades.
