Israeli forces have fired on groups of protesters at borders with the Palestinian territories, Syria and Lebanon.

Reports say that at least 12 people have died and dozens more have been injured.

In one incident, thousands of Palestinian supporters from Syria entered the Golan Heights, Israel says.

Palestinians are marking the Nakba or Catastrophe, their term for the founding of the Israeli state in 1948.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were forced out of their homes in fighting after its creation.

What's the betting that the USA and the United Nations will put out a statement that "Israel has a right to defend itself" while at the same time they have been highly critical of other Middle Eastern regimes for using these same tactics.

There is a double standard in the Middle East with regard to International Foreign Policy, and it's time it ended.

Why does a state like Israel continue to perputrate this sort of thing, and still be the recipient of the most US foreign aid of any country on the planet?

Stop all foreign aid, immediately. Ron Paul 2012.

Ultimately this is where the Arab uprisings have to lead too, the eventual protest of Israel.

From all sides, so I think it's time to consider more closely why we here in the United States have been funding and assisting these revolutions and fueling them through the internet and CIA and media, since it is a logical outcome.

Has the long awaited attack against Israel as we have been led to believe will occur at the end of the age begun?

Yup, if a Palestinian uprising does happen in Israel, the US military will certainly support the Israeli Government with weapons, boots on the ground, and financial support.

This will be a big sign that all hell is about to break loose.

However, one Israeli official told AFP: "Syria is a police state. Demonstrators do not randomly approach the border without the prior approval of the central government."

But isn't Palestine a democracy?

Did they not elect a political party?

Not to be an Israeli supporter as that is a parasitic country...

but...

These protesters are coming in from foreign areas trying to cause trouble within Israel. To put it simple, it is an invasion or a raid. Israel has every right to defend itself against such a raid just like the U.S. has a right to defend itself of the drug gangs, smugglers, and criminals crossing over the U.S.-Mexican border. But just as in the Mexican border, it is politically incorrect for a country to enforce border integrity.

There is a vast difference between people protesting their own government when compared to crossing another border to protest the government in another country.

For one: We are no longer a democracy, both parties are controlled by the same economic oligarchy.

The majority of jews have said that they do not support what the Israeli government does, as it's government has been co-oped like ours has been.

So yes, we do defend them, but not because they are a democracy.

Deny ignorance my friend

Israel is already a thriving nation, and idiots on ATS would rather kill that for nothing, just so a nation with nothing can get on.

If we invest in Israel it's more beneficial for us then if we help piss poor people.
There are no real allies in this world, only countries with interest.
We help countries that benefit our interest[all countries do]
So of course I think we should help Israel, as they are the most productive country in their region.

There's idiots who would rather tear down a scientific nation, that contributes to scientific study.. and they'd rather have a piss poor nation bring them down, smh.

Site is full a bunch of idiots man.

Yeah Syria is invading Israel with stones. Come on its a protest to against the Israel occupation of Palestine. No need for the jews to start and shoot and kill innocent people.
Now aint some of the rebels in Libya coming from other countries. Shouldnt america say that Israel is using unnecessary force. Oh yes, they wont. This could get very ugly.
Egypt, open up yur border crossing to Gaza. Let the protesters in.

Israelis promote "multiculturalism" for everyone, except themselves.

Eventually they will have all sovereign nations broken down into pits
of discontent.

Wrong.

It's primarily for religious reasons.

America, being run for the most part by people that profess themselves Christian, will do anything to support Israel, because the Bible tells them thats what should be done.

It also says any nation that stands against Israel will be destroyed, etc, etc.

Look through the veils and see the reasons behind the reasons.

It is still an illegal entry into another country.

If I entered your house, started yelling and screaming, and started throwing rocks at things, wouldn't you want to shoot me?

I completely agree. The tensions between these nations have been kept in relative check for some time now. At some point it is bound to boil-over. Israel has always been under siege by warring faction throughout our known history. Looks like that is never going to change.
