OK I've jumped ship. I have decided that the bible is correct and the earth is only 6000 years old. After all what what more proof do you need than a 2000 year old book written by people wandering around deserts. Compare that to measuring things and using the same science to create computers, TV's, robots which obviously work through the power of God......

Sounds to me like your statement is pretty ignorant and hypocritical.

Theres one thing that makes a rift between the two "theories"....Scientific Method It was designed to combat some of the bias which can arise from personal opinions or religious beliefs (bible didnt answer all of darwins questions so like a proper scientist he asked more) and use a method to control these bias that can inevitably creep into ones theories. The set age of the earth was decided upon many disciplines of science, their conclusions and correlations with eachother. It wasn't based on one study of one book, or PURE belief like many creationists.
A scientist actually finds proof of a correlation and reason as to why rather then saying it says it here so this is why obviously.
Science is not based on ignorance it's designed to weed it out

Yep, I actually live not too far from those ruins. But the idea that the universe is older than 13.75 billion years (give or take) is completely unsupported by anything other than idle speculation.

Because it is based on actual science, it's based on evidence, it's testable, it's observable, it isn't just based on adding up the mythologized ages of people in a book written in the bronze through iron ages.
