Secret Desert Force Set Up by Blackwater's Founder

www.nytimes.com

Mr. Prince, who resettled here last year after his security business faced mounting legal problems in the United States, was hired by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi to put together an 800-member battalion of foreign troops for the U.A.E., according to former employees on the project, American officials and corporate documents obtained by The New York Times.

The force is intended to conduct special operations missions inside and outside the country, defend oil pipelines and skyscrapers from terrorist attacks and put down internal revolts, the documents show.

Erik Prince is at again, and has made substantial inroads to ingratiate himself to the ruler's of UAE. Hampered by allegations and legal proceedings about illegal arms deals, corrupt training practices, and controversial shooting engagements by his band of former snake-eaters from his former security outfit Blackwater; he is back to the mercenaries for hire bit in one of most hostile regions on planet. More running and gunning in the desert?

Applications are being accepted for those who love to blow stuff up, stage coups, disrupt protests, or those with other interests. Five star accommodations in the UAE desert, and top training from some of the finest former special forces operators from the US, UK, and Germany. No longer will pesky US law enforcement probes, congressional investigations, or any other wrench in the engine be a problem for Prince's new guns-for- hire. The program is isolated in the UAE desert and is sanctioned by the government. This does not sound good given this man's track record, and the sophisticated training and tactics being offered to those involved in this secret battalion. Moreover, he seems to have taken the quite man role about all of this as well. Something fishy is going on in the deserts of UAE?

I can't say I didn't expect this.

put down internal revolts

If you need a foreign force or hired mercanaries to put down a revolt then it is a symbol that you have lost all legitamacy.

An even scarier possability in my mind would be using these highly trained troops for terrorist attacks in the west. I dont put it past Prince or any of the UAE leadership if theres money to be made. Its pretty scary i can only imagine how devestating these guys could be compared to AQ.

Will he remain a US citizen?

I got the same thing. Using foreigners to quell unrest and rebellion always brings to mind legitimacy concerns about regimes seeking their services. I wonder if the crack force of commandos was available to Qaddaffi at the onset of his own rebellion woes, if they would have been contracted? Moreover, it seems this force is being primed to work outside of UAE as well.

Yes, the foreign terrorism side of things is another troubling scenario to ponder with all these highly trained contractors running around looking for a paycheck. They will go to whoever pays the best, regardless of ideologies or politics.

I am fairly certain he will maintain his US citizenship. However, this man is turning out to be doing more harm than good. What's to stop him from contracting his private Praetorian Guard to whomever he wishes, and that is what concerns me about this. People ought to be keeping a close eye on him wherever he is.

I guess it is a matter of time before Barry Soetoro hires mercanaries in the US then because he has lost all legitamacy.

I commented on the closed thread about this:

This news is extremely creepy (but not surprising) as the UAE is a terrible bully in this part of the world. Secretly. Here in Oman they are perpetually catching UAE spies at all levels of the government, and when the really bad protests broke out here witnesses said it was men in cars with UAE plates urging the violence. The UAE secretly supports all kinds of terrorism and arms deals & whatnot - throughout the world.

And if you visit there as a guest and a local beats you to death for sitting at a restaurant table he wants (true story!), charges will never even be brought against him. The 'royals' murder and rape and embezzle with complete impunity.

There's a dark underbelly to that glossy exterior which is Dubai...

The more they have occupied over there, the better. I fear that these Xe/Blackwater lunatics could be used against the American people at some point. Sounds like their God is money and would not have an issue with putting the beatdown on anyone for the right price...

No big surprise here. The UAE is where all American companies seem to be striving for.
Once you make it here you can make it anywhere and they do. The US is just a springboard for bigger things. Everyone has gone "global" and reaping the most profits off emerging countries.
Corporate offices in Dubai is the end goal.
And since money is always the motivator....
I wonder how much will it cost to get them to switch sides and start working against us?

It is only an matter of time and a dollar figure away.

What I find odd is that Mr. Prince is a Christian Zealot and here he is doing business with what I thought would have been his enemy. Perhaps it's a Trojan horse type of operation.

Well let me see, Blackwater = ex-intelligence agency employees.

Blackwater is now the Crimson guard of the Saudi's. Blackwater is now in a prime position in one of our most important financial and economic allies.

Seems like a perfect setup to me.
