PARIS (Reuters) - A close ally of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, possible Socialist candidate in France's presidential election, said on Saturday the IMF chief was the target of a smear campaign by President Nicolas Sarkozy's camp.
Strauss Kahn, front-runner in surveys of voting intentions ahead of next April's election, is taking legal action over media reports which portray him as having a luxury lifestyle.
"There is now a totally structured and orchestrated campaign, which has already been announced by Mr Sarkozy and his closest allies, to attack the character of Strauss-Kahn, Socialist politician Jean-Marie Le Guen told Europe 1 radio.
"The Elysee (Sarkozy's office) has for months been clear on the idea that they would attack (his) personality,"

Well, not the Greeks so much, but it would point to the French as having a possible motive. And if the maid was French.......................possible. These IMF people are about stealing the resources and sovereignty of nations, and the French have had it pretty good for years, I can see why someone(s) in France might not want him in charge.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The International Monetary Fund issued a report Thursday on a possible replacement for the dollar as the world's reserve currency.
The IMF said Special Drawing Rights, or SDRs, could help stabilize the global financial system.
...Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing director of the IMF, acknowledged there are some "technical hurdles" involved with SDRs, but he believes they could help correct global imbalances and shore up the global financial system.
"Over time, there may also be a role for the SDR to contribute to a more stable international monetary system," he said.
The International Monetary Fund is closer to becoming an important regulator of global financial markets. Finance Ministers from the G20 member countries met in Washington DC this weekend to take part in continued discussion on what policy makers and central banks can do to avert another 2008-style financial crisis that leveled many brand name financial institutions in the US.

There's more to this than meets the eye.
Under normal circumstances this event would probably never see the light of day, if it ever happened.
The fact the guy is head of the IMF and future candidate for the presidency of France says alot.
The IMF, historically has been an asset of the US State Department. I would say this is still true. At this moment, the IMF are pushing their way into the EU. In the past, they would put third world nations in a form of debt bondage to the bank. Lastly, they are pushing for a "global reserve currency", that could become a global currency over time. This would make the IMF into the world's central bank or "Global Reserve Bank".

What might really be going on is a power struggle, between Europe and the US over the control of the IMF and the future world central banking system. The fact that Khan was arrested here, in New York of all places, may signal he is no longer a useful asset and may have been compromised.
Another thing to definitely not ignore is the roles of Mayor Bloomberg and Goldman Sachs in the event. Both wield tremendous power in New York and I can imagine nothing happens like this without their approval.
