Im sure lots of us have seen the movie "Castaway" or at least know what its about. Im basically wondering if you think there are people similar to Tom Hanks character, lost on islands, perhaps after their boat sank or plane crashed, etc.

Recently a Canadian women and her husband were in Nevada, their car got stuck on a logging road. After a few days without being found, they husband decided to venture off and look for help. The women survived seven weeks eating trail mix and drinking water until she was finally found by a group of ATV'ers. Her husband is still missing.
lasvegas.cbslocal.com...

It took 7 weeks for her to be found, who knows how long it would take for a person/persons to be found on an island, if ever.

Heres an intersting article, "10 Incredible Real Life Castaway Tales"
listverse.com...

Has the world expanded enough that if lost people on Islands want to be found they eventually will be? Or perhaps are there people living on Islands today that will never be found.

Cheers

Edit - I wasnt really sure which forum to put this thread in, if theres one that better suits it can a mod please move it? Thanks

Thanks...very interesting read. I especially liked Juana Maria and felt the sad irony of her death, only 7 weeks after rescue. It seems the hunter/gatherer diet is the best

It all depends on the island. Does it have a secret research facility on it? Does it have strange magnetic properties? Does this island have a frozen donkey wheel below ground, that if turned, transports you to a Middle Eastern country? Does this island have a hatch that requires the input of a series of numbers every 108 minutes to prevent the release of said electro-magnetic pulses? If you answered yes to all these questions, chances are you were dead all along, or you were actually on said island but were transported back and forth through time until you realized you died on the island.
