Under the mandate of Public Law 601, passed by the 79th Congress, the committee of nine representatives investigated suspected threats of subversion or propaganda that attacked "the form of government guaranteed by our Constitution."

It is in my personal opinion that we should resurrect the House Un-American Activities Committee for immediate and sweeping investigations pertaining to all threats upon the government established by the Constitution of the United States of America and make no businessperson, banker, politician, celebrity, or individual exempt from being subpoenaed.

Should questionable actions that directly threaten the stability and sovereignty of our Republic that individual, group of individuals, or entire organization should be called forth by this committee for investigation into their activities, beliefs, and goals.

Today we see far too many threats against our republic coming from racists, left-wing revolutionaries, right-wing militants, terrorists, and ideologues. These activities have reached so far into the depths of our government and public sphere of life that it is perverting our society, culture, government, thoughts, education, and basically everything else you can think of.

No groups should be exempt from its investigation should they be deemed a threat either through propaganda tactics or subversion. This includes groups such as the KKK, Black Panthers, eco-terrorists, Islamic terrorists, radical individuals, and other groups which aim to either harm, destroy, or overthrow our constitutional government and national identity.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright could be invited to the event to answer some questions, so could those who decided that teaching anti-white rhetoric in culture studies classes at school(s) in Arizona was right.

Now mind you I am not saying those who have politics opposite of what government would want you to have rather, those whose plans are to overthrow our constitutional government, harm or destroy our national identity, and those who subvert our constitution. Politicians are not exempt, bureaucrats in agencies are not exempt, bankers and businessmen are not exempt, no person who dares to threaten our nation will be exempt from the law.

I know this is a very radical idea especially coming from a person on a conspiracy theorist site but how can we just sit around any further and watch as people around us rally to destroy our republic? I for one would have no problem standing before that committee to answer any questions necessary so long as I know that those who wish to harm me, my country, and my identity are brought to justice.

And the answer is no it would not turn into McCarthyism 2.0.

Let me guess if they are found guilty they are thrown in prison for having thier own opinion. That very authoritarian and like insane.

Its like if people don't think the same way I do they are evil and should be imprisoned.

Any implementation of a program like this would only be bent to fit the ideas of the present leaders. Look at the Patriot Act. If you say something negative about the U.S. government and it's policies, you're un-American and probably a terrorist. Nice idea, but it would soon spiral out of control.

The Republic was destroyed long before the *first* House Un-American Activities Committee came into being.

It was destroyed before it ever became anything more real than an idea... but the acid took a little while to fully dissolve the remaining pretenses.

This would only feed the very machine you think you're fighting.

The only republic that is real is the one you maintain in your mind and in your real life social interactions. Republics are built from the bottom up, not coordinated from the top down.

Namaste.

Yes, it is very important to ensure that freedom of speech is maintained is by ensuring only the right things are said. The only way to preserve freedom is to watch everyone all the time to ensure they don't do, think or say unfree things. And of course pursuit of happiness can only be allowed by ensuring that your happiness is duly licensed, approved and provided by a large corporate "happiness provider."

Wake up people, the only way you can be free is to allow every aspect of your life to monitored, analyzed and controlled by right thinking officials.

Disclaimer: For those that do not understand that this is sarcasm (and there are many.. sigh), the above are not really my opinions.... but I'm sure that there are some out there who are thoughtfully musing "Yeah.. that makes sense."

Disclaimer to the disclaimer: Not you specifically.. now take a deep breath and keep browsing

Never was Amerika more envied the world over than that great time in history when men in pantyhose spied on the husbands of sitcom stars and made habits of harassing movie stars for speaking out about poor government practices.

By the way, McCarthy had nothing to do with the HCUA so why his name got involved is a bit striking.

It is McCathyism 2.0 right here in your proposal:

Please provide references for the exact thing Rev. Wright said that indicates he is one of

those whose plans are to overthrow our constitutional government, harm or destroy our national identity, and those who subvert our constitution.

And what does

harm or destroy our national identity

even mean? What is "national identity" in a culture as diverse as the US? Do you mean that to be the national identity of good white Christian folk who go to church on Sunday and Wednesday? Or do you mean people who are of say, SE Asian ancestry, who practice Bhudism? Or cowboys from the SouthWest? Or (gasp) those of the Islamic faith? Or is it the national identity of mixed-race-gay-men-under-40?

And what exactly is defined as "harm" to such a diverse national identity?

That idea of seeking out the evil thinkers is how persecution begins... Persecution in itself is a self fulfilling
process which is subject to the subjective perception of men. There is not a politician alive who would
being willing to let their investigation go without resolution, the determination that X,Y and Z are all evil thinkers;
all are a possible danger and threat to the nation. A politician would look like a fool if they created a commotion
and came to a meek conclusion, this builds the need for offenders to be found. The political entity who launches this will be the people with the power, purely because they have engineered the concept and promoted the need for action. The men and women charged with finding the scum of the Earth will apply subjective standards and direct their ire at opposing views. Worst of all this idea in this world of EXTREME manipulation and corruption would be subject to the string pullers of the world, not to mention the division and distortions that have been invested into for so long.

Now from a liberty stand point, I am not sure what to say really...

First and foremost the founding fathers greatly valued reputation and honor, law itself "sees" reputation as a valuable commodity which can destroy a person. It was such an important concept the duel, an actual fight to
the death was employed to counter charges of character.

In the end this committee would be tasked to probe unfavorable thought, personage and speech, which is the foundation of everybody's freedom and being, unalienable by biology as well as god.

Provided there are politicians who like to distort things around : ) , the next step is action... Impromptu witch trials
escalated into burnings because of the need to resolve the tension which the trial created itself. This same
Societal, action, reaction, action can be seen throughout the Earth for recorded history. It serves a psychological purpose and follows a plot-able route, inquiry rarely stops at inquiry.

I really think this idea is beyond the pail, I really like you as a person, you are very bright, but I would suggest
a reevaluation at this point. I am not sure what you have been reading, but the narrative appears to be taking you to the wrong place, this proposal is filled with much danger to liberty itself...

What is deemed a "threat" and who makes the determination of that "threat"?

Given this idea, subpoena powers are granted by Congress and that is where we will answer to the charges? What happens when the opinion of Congress does not coincide with the ideals of the Republic but rather their lust for political power?

Good read Misoir!

Hey Misoir, just out of curiosity, what will happen if the government digs into your thread history here and ATS and finds some quotes like this:

As some of you know by reading my threads I am a Socialist. What you don't know is that I am also an Agrarian and Libertarian.

I vote for Social democracy or Liberalism(it's a tie). A nice mix of the two is great.

- Install a form of direct democracy with local, state, and national referendums to involve the citizens in the legislative process.
- Replace free trade with fair trade and tariffs.
- Legalize marijuana, prostitution, online gambling, euthanasia, and homosexual marriage.
- Create a national debate on lowering the age of suffrage to 16 from 18 which would include; Drinking rights, smoking rights, sex rights, driving rights, marriage rights, homeownership rights, rental rights, voting rights and all other adult rights.
- Free pre-k education and college education for all citizens.
- All corporations will become democratic with all workers having voting rights on the leadership and decisions of the company.

Some of these things sound pretty unAmerican!
