while I'm not sure, because the sentence is so poorly constructed, but
it seems like you are advocating the same kind of thing. Pure abandoment.

Also I colorized all the [color=greenyellow]emotionally charged words that don't add value to the statement,
and the ones that are [color=orangered]incorrect grammar.
Seriously. Starting a sentence with "And." /facepalm

Very good, David Grouchy! Oh, and thank you, you ole "geezer" for fulfilling your social contract to your parents - the WW2 or Korean War generation (I'm guessing) and thank you for caring enough to want to continue to fulfill your social contract with the generations younger than you (I'm still guessing) and for caring enough to participate in this thread. Oh, didn't we all have it made back then? Rolling in baby boomer money and good jobs still.

I dont know what you over 30's are so worried about... or why you're even offended!

Im pretty well over 30. In fact, Im well over 40. Don't get upset because there is noting to fear. You just handle op like I handle my oldest daughter. When she gets these delusions of grandeur, I just smile like the senile old fool she assumes I am and let her prattle on. Know why Im smiling? I know for a fact that she is delusional, thinks everything that flies out of her mouth unfiltered is profound, and in reality.... she is just a kid. All she does is confirm that she is an immature goofball and you have to love them for it because we were all immature goofballs at one time.
Let's see.. the techno-kid OP here. Raised on computers.... as if we weren't. ROFL! My first computer was a TRS-80 bought in the late 70's. You know, back when you didnt just point and click on pretty things, but actually had to program it yourself if you wanted it to be more than an overpriced paperweight. The geniuses of today don't even taste real algebra until middle school. We now graduate near illiterates that cant maneuver through life without announcing every move on social networks to get some sort of validation of their very existence.... but cant figure out how to Google or self-educate. They HAVE to realize that the education of today is incredibly dumbed down...and if they had sense, they'd work to educate themselves. Its all free... its all easy to acquire. Competition and excellence are completely frowned upon in school and life in this current generation. My god, they'll cry if even the losers of whatever "competition" don't get a trophy or blue ribbon. The entire world at their fingertips with the internet and they still are wallowing in pop culture and fluff. Real world changers here. I won't even bother with the probability of survival for a kid of this generation if there ever were a collapse or SHTF scenario. They have NO practical life skills and have never been exposed to the more harsh aspects of the world unless filtered through a computer screen or movie.

I will agree with her on this one : My generation ruined the world.. mainly because we allowed her generation to grow into self-indulgent, narcissistic, entitled, illiterates.... that think computers and tech have spontaneously appeared in their generation and they invented the indigo kid garbage. If we'd have just taught them to read, she could have figured that out before posting it.

I know your brain is wired all special and everything due to this brand new thing you call technology, but it can still process the written word:

inventors.about.com...

stating that during the mid 1960s she began noticing that many children were being born with "indigo" auras[3][4] (in other publications Tappe has said the color indigo came from the "life colors" of the children which she acquired through her synesthesia[5]).
en.wikipedia.org...

Math may not be a strong subject, so here : 2011 ( this year) - 1960 ( the year in the article when indigos were first noticed by that wacko) = 51. That means the 51 yr olds were among the Indigos that will save you.. and here you went and pissed them off. Prepare for Armageddon.

Now, I'm being overly harsh mainly because this whole thread is amusing. YOU, op, have no thoughts that I didn't when I was a kid or that my parents didn't have when they were kids. You're not having any profound or original feelings or ideas. You also can't be condemned for having them, but you are fair game for making fun
The thing is that you are unfortunately at a distinct disadvantage than any reasonably modern generation before you.. you may have all of the tools for faster data, but you definitely are stunted in the critical thinking and application of knowledge department. Your educational methods and modern culture have seen to this. I truly hope that as you grow you will seek out the skills that will allow you to "save the world".. I swear that if you do this, I will applaud you and happily smile myself into extinction.

I guess the elderly could flip hambugers at MC Ds or bag groceries. Seems thats the role the elderly think the younger generation should do.

Considering my choice a few minutes ago was the guillotine,
I'll TAKE IT! I would be honored to cook dinner
for the new generation.

Are u frickin serious? I know that if you are, you need help. You seriously think that growing up with technology gives you some edge that previous generations didn't have, or that the technology will make a better world?
Bwuahahahahhahaaaaa!!!!

Ahhhh, kids. I love em. They taste just like chicken......

Guess who developed that technology you think is your ace in the hole?????

Oh for Gods sake.. ROFL! Now you've went and offended me all "racially" and culturally.
I'm one generation of the Rez... Blackfeet. No, we sure as hell didn't abandon the elderly. LMFAO!!! Lemme give you a cracker jack box education here.. there are many tribes.. all tribes have different customs, laws, cultural issues, etc. To make a blanket statement that NATIVE AMERICANS abandoned the elderly is the cherry on top today and only passing along more false information and making disparaging comments concerning my culture to bolster your argument. Our elders were/are highly respected in my culture and were/are not tossed out like garbage.

BTW, Im joking about being offended.. Im pretty well used to complete and utter BS being passed as fact about us dastardly and uncivilized NDNs.

I'm sorry.
I really am.
The Aztecs kept them drunk.
But in tribes without a city that kept on the move,
if the elderly were unable to keep up, they got left behind.
They became the wise women/men in the wilderness living alone,
but the tribes generally had to keep moving to follow the herds or to seasonal food.
The blackfeet did not have cities or permanent settlements.

You go girl.

I have a 28 yo daughter who would starve in the street if we weren't paying the bills. Many of her friends are even worse. They consume no news products at all. If it doesn't immediately impact their, or their peeps, daily lives they don't care. Clueless, uneducated, unskilled, uninterested yet still they believe they are somehow special because the socialist infiltrators in the public schools continually told them so. There's hope for her yet and she's gradually figuring it out but I knew more about the world at 15 than she does today.

ps

My first computer was a Commodore 128 in the 1980s but I had played with the UGA main frame by way of a DEC terminal at our school in the 1970s. With punch cards even.

I feel, I've crossed the rubicon in this thread.

Here is my solution.

Young people want to make the world better?

This is what you do.

Put all the retirement homes along our borders and at our ports. Stock them with the latest in survailance equipment. Elderly people want to know what is going on. And no body would sneak anything into this country if they were our gate keepers. Simple. Solves many problems simultaniously. And gives everyone something to look forward too.

Keep talking like that and you'll be grounded. No phone, no tv, no computer for a week!
Now go clean your room and stop this silly talk!

I have a much more amusing solution.. let us old farts turn off the electricity for 72 hours. Everyone under 30 would be rocking back and forth in the basement repeatedly pressing the "on" button on the PC or I-pod. I can hear it now.. clicking and crying across the nation....

these are the dreams old people have...

ROFL.

What a great visual. I can see it now. "But my batteries are FULL. WTF. Why isn't this thing working. I can't call anyone and find out if theirs is working!"
