What the hell is that? is that how it looks in person to you or just how it looks in your image?

That would be an out of focus picture of the moon
Nothing spooky or strange about that...

The moon looks ok to me.
I put my Nikon D3100 on the tripod and took some pics.
nothing out of the ordinary

I know its out of focus a tad, but I do not kow how to zoom all the way in and keep it focused. I did see the bump with my eye though (it was small with eye). I wasnt claiming it to be spooky.

I meant no offense to you
please don't take it personal

I used a tripod to keep it focused and I used a video camera...
Its got one heck of a zoom!
I just did snap shots of the video for pics...

As I pointed out In this post it was just a crater catching light...
I've seen it happen several times...

No worries. I just have a Panasonic digital camera 28mm not a fancy rig like you. LOL! I do not know how to use half the functions on it.

Apologies for the late reply here, but after seeing this thread we went ahead and took a picture from California at sunset time... Looks like that crater is catching light in it, too. Hope the pic doesn't get cut off/isn't too large without resizing.

Edit. Sure enough it somehow got chopped between uploading and embedding, anyhow hope it helps.

I took some on the 12th at night when someone talked about something poking from the moon. I did not
see anything but the light around the moon due to our atmosphere often looks blurry or distorted to my
nearly 60 year old natural eyes..it will look yellowish or bluish at times..I just keep staring at it looking away
from time to time and soon I can see it's just my eyes and earth's atmosphere doing it..one night I saw like
2 halos around the moon..wild looking..wish I had one of those expensive cameras but then again 'granma' here
might have trouble learning to use it correctly.
oh fudge..sounds good doesn't it HAHA made some of those oatmeal and cocoa bakeless cookies last night
yum yum..being honest to a max here "kids". far superior to a distorted image of that ol moon.
