Clearing an Innocent Man: God Bless the Innocence Project

I can't imagine a more hellish situation than being wrongfully convicted for a heinous crime. Imagine 27 years behind bars, then being exonerated through DNA evidence.

DALLAS – A courtroom packed with family and friends burst into applause Thursday when a judge freed a Dallas man who spent 27 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault before DNA evidence cleared him.

Johnny Pinchback, the 22nd person to be exonerated through DNA testing in Dallas County since 2001, was found to have been wrongly convicted of raping two teenage girls in a Dallas field in 1984.

Dressed in a white pinstriped suit bought for him by a fellow exoneree two weeks ago, Pinchback, 55, said faith and support from his family kept him motivated to fight for his innocence.

Stories like this are the main reason that I do NOT support the death penalty. One innocent man being killed is far worse than 10,000 guilty ones spending life behind bars IMO.

An innocent man spending 27 years, well you all can calculate that cost in your minds.

Some of the local DAs/prosecutors seem to want to pin something on somebody at all costs, so they can have conviction rates that get them re-elected. Politics damaging people, very disturbing......
