The only hero during Katrina was that guy with the tub of Heineken. Everybody else was behaving criminally. The nurses, guardsmen, police, feds,
About the nurses... I have a story.
In a hospital not far from New Orleans, all nurses and doctors left the hospital leaving a bunch of patients, which were in terminal phase with a few
weeks to live, alone... except one nurse. One nurse stayed.
With crazy heat, no food, almost no clean water, she stayed with those patients... And as no help was coming, those patients were dying of
dehydration... which is one of the worst ways to die, it's a slow and painful death... So the nurse, seeing this after a few days and seeing how the
patients were suffering atrociously, decided to ``euthanize`` them... so they would not suffer no more, and since they were already going to die
anyway in the next few days, it was better to save them from all this suffering they would have to go through.
Of course she got sued by the families and charged with murder of those patients... but it turned out she was acquitted...because the lady obviously
didn't kill those patients because she's was a murderer but because she offered them a ``peaceful`` death... over days of suffering. (I don't know
if it's 100% true, but if it is, it's a amazing story)
