I've had to re-log in here just now and was off line for forty minutes running a scan.

I clicked into a topic and before I knew it I was getting a vote for bush pop up that kept coming. My pop-up blocker is good and somehow it got through and locked me out of ats.

What the F_ _ _ K!

Did this happen to anyone else and if so can we find the person that did this and pull out their nails!

This really sucked. My scanner says I have a trojan and I can't remove it, and didn't have it before this morning, so somebody did something.

AM I wrong here?

ATS implements PopUnders too...your PopUp blocker coulda been working just fine but the PopUnder still woulda gotten through. Are you using IE?

Yes I am using IE but if ATS uses these things then I'd be even more pissed.

I don't come here to get locked out and popped constantly and infected with virus'.

So what's up?

Most ad systems work with people buying ad space on certain sites.

If some pro bush nut bought premium display space on ATS and used a malitious code in his advertisement to cause the popup to act like a virus, then ATS can do nothing about it.

The only thing they can do and have done before is stop display of the advertisement network that caused the problem.

Thanks TM, and I certainly don't mean to accuse ATS of collusion, but it was incredibly annoying.

Can any moderators chime in here and set me straight?

Humn, I don't get any pop-up/pop-under from ATS. My pop-up blocker is good, but I usually see the window before it's killed, and I've never seen one.

I am sure things were running real slow earlier today, before and after the Ridge statement. I didn't notice it, but I'm on broadband.

Never had a virus from here either

I have also had the same problem. Using IE, I typed in www.abovetopsecret.com and it takes me to the login page, from there I get redirected to a porno website.

This was after I unistalled the toolbar "Find Whatever Now." It is a pain in the @$$. I uninstalled it and the sh_ _ hit the fan. Like popups everywhere on ATS. The number of popups would even cause computer to crash.

The reason I switched to www.mie2.com for use of the ats chat feature. I also use Mozilla for regular web browsing.

I was actually logged in and viewing topics, clicked a political topic and before I knew I had been logged out and bush popups where hitting me hard, even after I logged off and ran a couple of scans when I came back to ATS I got the same thing, it went away after I logged back in, so I don't know what the hell happened.

Very annoying.

Spyware sometimes uses content-triggers to spawn pop-ups etc. Logged in ATS members will not get any popups from ATS, but some spyware will trigger due to ATS' content.

I suggest you give IE the flick, and get Opera or Firefox, also get SpyBot S&D, and make sure your firewall/antivirus are up to date. (as well as windows update). Should zip your system up pretty tight.

EDIT: yes btw I am too lazy to link to those three, just google for them.

What thread was it exactly that caused the trouble for you SpiderJ?

Maybe someone put a malitious URL into his sig or something.

I'll openup IE and do some surfing on ATS and see if I can find something.
