Poll: Jerusalem Arabs prefer Israel

US poll: 39% of east Jerusalem Arabs prefer to live under Israeli sovereignty; 30% didn't answer.

Some 35% of them said that Israeli citizenship is their preferred citizenship and only 30% chose to be citizens of the future Palestinian state. An additional 30% said that they didn't know, or preferred not to answer the question.

When asked "if most people in your neighborhood” would prefer to become citizens of Palestine or of Israel: 31% estimated that most people prefer Palestinian citizenship; 39% estimated that most people prefer Israeli citizenship; and 30% declined to answer or said they didn’t know.

40% said they would move in order to remain Israeli citizens if their neighborhood was transferred to Palestinian sovereignty. In contrast, only 29% said that if the opposite were to occur, and their neighborhood remained under Israel's authority they would move to an area under Palestinian authority.

This was a very interesting poll which was pretty shocking to me. I had always assumed that Palestinians in and around Israel supported Palestine over Israel as their government but now this poll is showing the opposite, although none of the results were an absolute majority.

The poll is not very telling though. Many who would choose Israel might choose it solely for economic reasons (assuming any future Palestinian state will have a poor relationship with the west, economic reasons etc) putting those concerns for their family etc first. Also it seems a large amount of those who answered the poll didn't have a preference either way.

Its possible that the survey is biased because of thoughts of standard of living.
At this point its
- Live in Israel where there is a good economy, jobs, law and order and safety.
- Live in "palestine" where there are no jobs, poor conditions, no infrastructure, and the Israelis can bomb the crap out of you whenever they like, while they take your land, bulldoze youir house and build settlements.

That might bias the "where do you want to live?" questions.

I would imagine it's because it's more stable than Palestine rule.

But of course we'll have people jumping in here going "Dohohoho it's biased, it's a conspiracy, they hate the jews, we hate the jews, damn jews!"

If you do your homework, you will find that neither Jordan or Saudi Arabia will allow the Palestinians across their borders. You will also find out that the Palestinians, like the Islamic Jihadists, mostly kill each other over disagreements. Nobody in their right minds wants them around.

I'm sure there are many innocent Palestinians who are decent people that are prisoners out of fear of their own leaders. Hamas is however in control and their Charter is available for anyone to read if they want the truth. If you are not one of them and believe exactly as they do, they want you dead. They make no secret of that.

If you follow the news on these extremists, you will clearly see it is them who are slaughtering their own that accounts for most of the atrocities anywhere in the Middle East.

The map below tells the story. The red is the tiny country of Israel and the green shows countries with a majority Muslim population. I've seen estimates and polls showing around ten percent of the one and a half billion Muslims agree with the Jihadists, including Hamas.

Israel lives in fear for good reason.

This is not surprising at all to anyone who lives in Israel and knows what's really going on...

Arabs in Israel (which constitute about 20% of the population) enjoy social security, health benefits etc... they have free speech, they can elect and be elected for public office... The poll was taken in East-Jerusalem, and only for people who live there... but I can assure you that if for example. it would have been conducted in other Arab towns in Israel (what is called Wadi-Ara and "The Triangle" which are predominantly Arab), the results would have been far more clear-cut...

Actually, Israel's foreign minister, Liberman (which I believe is a corrupt man...) during the last elections clearly said, that if the Arabs want to solve the problems with Israel, fine - let's give the Palestinian state the Arab areas in Israel, and in exchange keep the big blocks of cities in the West Bank (i.e. Gush-Etzion, Ariel etc...) the outcry from Arabs was immense... They much prefer to stay under the "Oppressing Jews" than under their own "brothers"... if that doesn't tell you the truth... I don't know what would.

Are there problems between Jews and Arabs in Israel? yes... Are Arabs something discriminated against? yes... However - are they being murdered by Jews? nope... have they been thrown off roof tops? nope... (look up the elections in the PA where the Hamas won... and see what happened when they took over Gaza... they literally threw the opposition off the roof tops...)

Of course they'd want to live in Israel! Just look at the difference in death tolls.

Why would you want to move from nice safe Israel to Palestine where your home, livelihood, job and family are at risk every day? And where you can get shot in the street or bombed from above while going about your daily business.

It's a given really.

Of COURSE they would! Any sensible sane person would prefer living in a democratic Free state to a tyrannical Islamic state...

Thats why its so hilarious that the anti-Israel people despite their irrational hate for Israel would UNDOUBETDLY prefer to live ANYWHERE IN ISRAEL than in the west bank, or Gaza, or even Egypt. Its safer in Israel, you have more freedoms in Israel...Youd be happier in Israel.

None of it makes sense. Liberals who support Islamic interests is by the far the most ironic friendship in human history. The feelings are not reciprocal.

Are you able to make a disinction between the west bank and Gaza? There are no Arabs in the westban with their "families, houses, jobs" at risk. ..

These people just understand that it would be preferable, economic issues aside, to live under a democratic government...as opposed to Islamic dictatorship...

No palestinian arabs exsisted before the 1920s

There is also a distinct groups of Israeli arabs that don't call themselves Palestinian.
In fact some of these arabs look down on Palestinians as second class people.(some what like trailer trash in the US.)

There is also the Israeli Druze Muslims many that hate Palestinians.(It is estimated that 85% of Druze men in Israel serve in the Israeli army,)

And last there are the Negev Bedouins many who don't like the Palestinians ether.

I beg to differ. There are family homes and refugee camps in the West Bank that suffer the same pressures as those on Gaza. Settlement building and stealing of Palestinian state land continues there.

Wets Bank Homes At Risk From Israeli Demolition

Ninety-two people from the Palestinian village of Hmayyir, in the al-Farisiya area of the occupied West Bank, have had their homes demolished as the Israeli authorities continue with large-scale destruction there. These people just understand that it would be preferable, economic issues aside, to live under a democratic government...as opposed to Islamic dictatorship...

Last time i checked Palestine had democratic elections. Although it's like choosing between a giant douche and turd sandwich, you're screwed either way, not dissimilar to Western 'democratic' elections.
