it surely seems like that.
And what i find strange is that everybody complains here in my country, but nobody stands up and takes action.
It's like we are the lonely kid at school thats gets beaten up every day.

But one day he will stand up and kicks some (royal) ass.

Just came back from the garage... now it's 1.45$/L... It actually INCREASED... when the price of a barrel of oil dropped 10%+ in the last 36 hours.

What a bunch of crooks.

What a crazy is that those SOBs in government are putting a MINIMUM price per liter... not a maximum one... disgusting.

A few weeks ago, a member of ATS posted a thread about the idea someone gave of boycotting ONE oil company for a whole year, forcing that company to lower its prices to prevent a too big loss of money, and that that would be forcing the others to follow in lowering prices.
At the same time, MSM was talking how oil prices were to hit a new high record... Well, the very next day, prices fell from 1.42.9 to 1.32.9.

I think there is a relation. Maybe we should really promote the idea and actually APPLY the idea.

Except it can't work in Canada... Why? There's a minimum price set at the pump by the government.

I am in Canada.
If we can make them lower it to its lowest, that would be that. I knew about enormous government taxes, but never thought of it as a having a bottom price... Do you know what it is?

Dude, you're not the only one. In Australia fuel where I live is currently like $1.52 AUD a litre. $1.52 x 3.78 litres is $5.74 a gallon in Australian currency converted to Canadian currency is 5.52 Canadian dollars. Pretty sure fuel is expensive everywhere and for no other reason than to make more money.

Once fuel hits around $1.80 a litre here I'm expecting there to be riots, I'll be one of them rioting.

Dropped to 1.37 today.

Thank you TPTB. I am in your debt.

Tax Tax Tax. I have never heard of a Canadian in any form of power that did not want to copulate with a tax. Gotta pay for that monstrous failed socialist state that everyone holds up as a pinnacle of Western progressiveness.

Canada isn't fooling anyone, you are just as broke from soft headed open border welfare state diversity garbage as the rest of us. Hell, Canada's Nazis seize books at the border now if they are not all warm and fuzzy. So progressive. 60 yrs ago the stereotypical Canadian was a Mountie or a lumberjack. These days it's an (insert anyone not Canadian) homeless drug addict that will sue for even having an independent thought that is not in line with the manifesto that whatever leftist degenerate has made it state mandate. Don't hate yo, Canada won't have $&^% on the US once we are done here.

It's a little difficult, if not dangerous, to ride a bike to work in -30C, snowy, icy weather. Public Transit? Lots of smaller cities and towns don't have it. I would have to walk over a kilometer if I took our public transit to get to work. And our nasty winters last 6 months.

A proud Canadian

The funnier thing is that when I looked at the list of for people running for prime minister the only thing that was going through my mind was, which one of these guys is the least worse, so I picked the best of the worse, pretty sad when all you have is a bunch of crooks to pick from.

Had a conversation with a friend last week and I remember him stating that these ridiculous gas prices will soon start to drop because oil is on the way down. I never wanted someone to be so right.

But here we are...oil coming down and gas...continues to climb.

I know the US was in shock when some States were seeing $5 per gallon. Ha!

How about $5.60 and up? That's what some experienced in Canada.

The scary thing is that we here in Canada are not hearing any news that the upward swing will soon end. In fact, as we approach summer, it is a certainty to continue to rise as that's what happens.

It's ridiculous that I now drive only when I absolutely have to. I don't want to think of a holiday trip as the budget for fuel will outweigh everything else.

So now the Govt. believes we have an extra $1,000 to shell out? The equivalent of a 7% tax hike...as if we didn't have enough taxes already. An extra 12 Billion GONE from our pockets.

I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER $1,000 TO GIVE!

Higher Canadian gas prices could cost households an extra $950 this year: CIBC

www.calgaryherald.com...

OTTAWA — The recent surge in gasoline prices, if sustained, will cost the average Canadian household an extra $950 this year, according to a report issued Monday. CIBC World Markets said the 25 per cent rise in pump prices since September would, at current levels, cost Canadian consumers an extra $12 billion over the course of 2011, equivalent to a tax hike of about seven per cent. The Central Canada gas price puzzle

Record gasoline prices are hammering consumers in Central Canada, even though oil prices are sitting well below recent highs and most regions in the West and Atlantic Canada are so far seeing little change at the pumps.

Gas prices jump at Ontario, Quebec pumps

toronto.ctv.ca...

Gasoline prices at the pumps soared in parts of Ontario and Quebec early Tuesday, even as the price of crude oil was little changed. Motorists were paying 6.5 cents a litre more in southern and eastern Ontario, the website tomorrowsgaspriceotoday.com reported. A litre of regular gas in the Toronto area cost $1.396 early Tuesday, compared with 96.3 cents a year ago.

Gas price breaches 140 cents per litre - hitting 141.1

news.ca.msn.com...

Drivers saw another leap in gas prices on Wednesday with the average price in Toronto breaching the 140 cents per litre mark. After a record increase of 6.5 cents on Tuesday, a further 1.5 cents per litre was added on Wednesday, leaving the average price at 141.1.

So, what are the prices in your area?

Shut it and complain to your legislators. Depending on location over ONE THIRD! of the price of gas is taxes in Canada. While in America it is only 14% of the price of taxes(give or take). Meaning Canada pays a pretty penny in gas taxes. Seriously you Canucks are getting as bad as the British, whining because they pay a boatload yet ignoring the fact that most of it is taxes and that pre-taxes their gas is cheaper!

This is the price of your ever so glorious social leech programs.

Um, I think you missed the point entirely.

We KNOW it's taxes and We KNOW about our social programs.

We also KNOW that our social programs are disappearing and yet, the taxes are increasing.

I don't care what side of the border you are from, it's quite evident that the surplus is not going to the citizens.

With that argument however, with even less social programs in the US, why are fuel prices at the pump also rising in the US?

It is not even remotely possible to justify this argument.

Australia is the same as Canada..
It's normal to drive 20+miles to get to work..
Personally I do over 300miles a week..
Petrol here is $1.50 a liter...

Just as a comparison, I live in the US, Arizona to be more specific. Right now I'm lucky in that I work from home. My roommate has a fairly typical drive to get to work though, he drives around 100 miles every day, over 500 miles a week. He makes a good sight more money than I do, but I almost feel like I am on par with him because I have no commute time and no gas budget.

Try living in Europe. Then again the culture is different. If a drive to work exceeds 45 min. people here consider moving or renting a weektime flat. In US Dollars we pay around 1,70 per liter.

In America it is pure greed+ eco-terrorist's+ Anti American EU/China Sympathizers(agents).

basically America is stuck in a system where some people are pushing the price up because of greed, some because they want to "crash the system" and get SUV's off the road. And others because if the price of gas is really, really high in American dollars Americans will cut back. Enabling the EU, China and India to buy gasoline cheaper.

Most American drilled oil ends up going to the EU(Diesel mostly) or Japan. Basically British Agents within the Republic are plotting to do to America what the British did to India(Which is why I advocate war against the UK, even though i personally view violence and war as a horrible thing, but I would rather see the British extinct then watch millions of Americans starve or freeze to death as the UK/EU rapes America of our oil so London can stay warm while America freezes).

As more time goes by Canada is likely to get caught in the same Chino-British scheme.

And like I said before there are those who want to crash the system. Some in the name of communism and others who dream of absolute fascism. At this point they are working together because it is expedient for both of them. If they cause too much to happen at once= French Revolution(bad news for the commies and fascist's). Nice and slow= Weimar Republic/Russian Revolution disaster(fertile ground for fascist's and commies to go all out).

Gas prices will probably hit $5.40ish then drop down to $3.70's for awhile so people are mentally conditioned not to freak out over 3-4 dollar price gap. Then they will, after a certain amount of time goes by, increase prices again. Basically they want to incrementally bankrupt each and every average American. To create a sense of total despair and hopelessness. The communist's want to use this to strip away total individualism and establish communal living, a kind of techno-feudal society.

The fascist's are aiming for advancement of their "perfect" human. Some people say progressives and commies are the same, well they aren't. Progressives believe in breeding the perfect human, if you really want to know what the fascist's want look up Nazi Germany. That is or was the perfect progressive state realized(Progressives end goal).

Then add neurology. Most of the people in places of power are Sociopaths. So it is in their nature to push social boundaries because they themselves lack shame, genuine remorse and basic decency. They will push it as far as they can.
