When mom told me drinking coffee wasn't good for children because it makes their nose brown, I didn't really believe her. I knew she was lying.
She also told me not to play on the railroad tracks because I might get hit by a train.

Now she lied about the coffee, should I assume she is lying about the railroad tracks?
I never saw anyone get run over by a train on these tracks.
Why should I take her word for it?
Today I am still alive to drink coffee.

I let my better judgement decide and people neither should assume everything their elected representatives tell them is a lie.
