Any quakes yet anywhere? Sorry, couldnt really see any updates, over all the pointless bickering that is going on in this topic.

For gods sake people, dont like a topic? Stay out of it, or at least attempt to have some kind of intelligent debate. Not all this childish #.

No seriously, I am actually very interrested in knowing if a quake will happen or not. So do me a favor? Instead of going; "Ah! Damn tinfoil wearing creep" and: "No you!". Keep it mature, and some what intelligent. Im interrested in this, and would like to know more. So please, keep this topic updated with reports on activity etc, if you wont mind.

49 FLAGS? Seriously? things have changed in the fragile earth forum in the last 12 months too much. I'm going to just hide in Quakewatch forever. It's too dramatic out here.

This is kinda off-topic when it comes to location, but kinda on topic because of the potential for an earthquake. I am a little concerned about the sheer volume of water going down the Mississippi and the effect that such an inundation may have on the New Madrid fault...of course I haven't any idea of what the soil composition is or how far one has to go down before bedrock is encountered (not that that makes a whole lot of difference if there is a huge fault under it all).

I would guess no, and I would bet on it... I'm not going to even attempt to do all the math, but smaller 'swarm' type events have been common lately and the Japan quake has had (and continues to have) a substantial number of smaller aftershocks. Haiti also has seen a substantial number of small quakes. Besides that using the magnitude number disadvantages larger quakes. A 9.0 has 1000 times the energy of a 7.0 but the two would average to an 8.0 which is just shy of 32x the force of the 7... so you get an energy average of 32x instead of 500x when you first average magnitude and convert that to average damage potential.

Couldn't of put it any better! A 7 earthquake is a big deal, regardless of its position on the map. Its unfortunate that this thread would be different if this quake actually affected people. Anways I digress, this is only the 10th of May in which we saw around a 7 quake. Could this be a foreshadowing of something worse tomorrow? I hope not for many lives' sake.

I've only just started reading about mind over matter , but do you think thats why we've got so many obviously dodgy stories in the mainstream ? I mean if we are all thinking of elenin and planets lining up to cause a catastrophe, just the thought of say 20 % of the population thinking about it might wish it into existance, maybe the wars economic collapse, the BC, bin ladin etc would be the only way to distract enough of us so it doesn't happen.

I always thought I was a pessimist but after reading this postI realise I'm probably certifiable

Or maybe the flipside? Making people aware of events and happenings in the world before they happen might have the counter-effect of preventing that event from happening, that is if it is negative. Just a thought.

I've always wondered the same thing... if so many people across the globe were thinking the same thing: it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen... maybe you're right JustXeno...maybe the MSM is trying to distract us from causing the inevitable? it crosses my mind just about everything I read these sorts of posts... something to think about.... Maybe I need to read more of this mind over matter...

I like your thinking maybe they should post everything that may happen on ATS wih all the full time nay sayers negative vibes nothing bad would ever happen again.

For whatever it's worth I have been seeing 888 a lot recently. Usually means a shift is coming, phase of your life is over. I have been having the standard earthquake/disaster dreams recently, last night I had a dream that said the big one for USA is coming tomorrow 5/11, wasnt specific where just that it'd never be the same.

I usually ignore specific dates and focus on the concept/meanings but this one was extremely vivid.
