This is how the American government has been allowed to deteriorate. The world used to look to America as a beacon of Hope and Change. Not so much anymore.

We now live in a country in which the POTUS can order the assassination of his own citizens with no due process, while the federal government is arresting citizens who own poker websites.

WTF happened to this country?

If ever there was a definition for your post, it would read : "apples and oranges.".

No, you're totally wrong.

Both Obama's assassination policy represents the government overreaching it's authority, as does the illegality of poker websites.

We should be free to play cards if we want, and we should be free from the POTUS ordering our assassination.

Or are you one of those who believe the government's role is to protect us from our own bad decisions?

Like I said, wtf happened to this country?

I think Politicians prove everyday that there is a legal way around every law.......you just have to be educated enough to learn or know it! I believe that the way around the law your referring to would be to host the website from outside the country. They can't arrest you for something your not technically doing inside the country last time I checked. But then again they did blow Osama's brains out in Pakistan sooooooooooooooooooo

Thats a good point. I have an example.

Prostitution is illegal in most states. Yet, you can still pay a gal have to sex with a guy as long as you are shooting a legal Porno film. It's a form of legal prostitution. It works only because the porno film industry is regulated and street hookers are not - see.. it's not about morals or ethics.. it's about Money.

More proof of how corrupt our government is and needs to be overthrown.

it's in bad taste for a government to run a poker site. how would it look if the federal government was taking welfare checks every weekend.

and since they can't run it, that leaves organized crime and businessmen. and since the governments knows they would use every trick to avoid taxes, the government takes the kindergarten position of " if i can't make money, then you can't make money either."

Actually, no. The poker sites are offshore and the U.S. government somehow was able to extend its powers to freeze offshore bank accounts.

76 bank accounts in 14 countries have been served restraining orders -all because the U.S. government has declared they have the power and authority to tell people they can't play card games with each other.

But the POTUS can order the murder of any U.S. citizen without any due process.

And the sad part is people don't see how f-ed up this is.

Dude, I feel your pain. A few years ago I was helping a friend with a site where he was just giving sports picks and the f-ing republicans decided to pass that stupid ass online gambling law. I forget the Senator's name. Maybe it was Bill Frist. He actually said the U.S. government needed to step in and protect people from themselves.

I'm not sure what's more screwed up -the way this country is being run or the lack of outrage over it.

What's incredible is that the Feds gave trillions to investment banks which basically run a large gambling operation in terms of how the average Joe invests in the stock market.

It got hoodwinked by right wing idiots on the radio and tv that convinced sheeple of things like the President was assasinating American citizens when that is just ludicrous. So no poker sites until people become a little more responsible.

Enforcing responsibility is not a function of government.

The feds are just pissed that they can't tax poker proceeds, so like everything else that they can't loot, they make it illegal.

The Online gaming law stopped no one from gambling online, it also stopped no one from selling picks to people stupid enough to pay for them. It only stopped banks and credit card companies from doing transactions. Western Union and Money Gram have never been happier.

The recent seizure of the biggest poker sites stopped people from playing poker.

U.S. players can no longer play on FullTilt, PokerStars, etc etc

Their funding and payout methods were against the law. There are hundreds of offshore sportsbooks that operate 100% within the law, why haven't the Poker sites figured this out?

Great example of what I'm talking about. It's not the government's job to make sure we can gamble responsibly.

And I first learned about the Obama assassination program from that Keith Olberman.

Obviously you understand the situation but still missed the point.

Why should sports books be forced to operate offshore in the first place? Why should poker sites be forced to figure out how to operate offshore like the sports books?

Why should it be illegal for gambling businesses to use banks for their transactions?

What's the rationale for limiting our freedoms to gamble while the POTUS now has the freedom to order the assassination of US citizens?
