I wonder how many people who know about an even greater conflict in Chinese history, where we, during our own civil war, and other nations sent troops to save the Qing imperial dynasty.

Until World War 2, it was the most destructive war in world history, with over 30 million dead.

It was started by a man with delusions of messianic grandeur, claiming to be the brother of Christ, an antichrist if you will with an army of 3 million.

It is known as the Taiping Rebellion 1850-1864

An American commander, Fredrick Townsend Ward and his "Ever Victorious Army" saved Shanghai during the war.

After dying in battle, the Chinese built a Confucian shrine and temple devoted to Ward. He is possibly the only American ever worshipped in China as a god.

Oh they know this. Just that you have to know Chinese people are not revengeful or treacherous. They tend to not try to invade other people but keep to themselves, unlike the despicable and shameless west. The west is STILL doing the same thing as what they have been doing to other countries, like Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

The Chinese remembers the aftermath of the Boxer rebellion, so that's why you can see that most foreign companies have a hard time staying afloat there in China. They are peaceful and not use force to retaliate. In fact their people are all kind and all reserved. The brain washing media always shows the bad side of China or other countries that they try to discount.

I don't get why there isn't already a rebellion to overthrow this terrorist government, or whoever's behind it. Why not just shut down the damn banks that are causing so much agony and pain. Why not shut down and create a revolution of the stupid working society that deprives us of our happiness. I'm not saying that we shouldn't work, but i feel like the reason why we work the way we do, is because so that we can feed our corrupted government in its wrong doings.

Thanks for bringing up the real history. I don't think this "invasion" of China by foreign powers was any different than what happened to alot of South America and even today with middle Eastern countries in the latter half of the 20th Century. It's all about big business. The Chinese did the expected thing and forced the "invaders" out. Good for them. As far as not seeing it in history books, there' so much about history that isn't taught that you have to wonder if there is some kind of "epoch filter" that the people who write history books use to condense what they think is significant about history instead of just telling students just what happned and let them settle they're own hash about it. Proves the old "Military/Industrial complex" isn't just a U.S. invention and that it's been around a long, long time !

well everyone can just stop dismissing the Tea Party if you wanna keep whining about US Imperialism, because it was the Tea Party who opposed this admin from the start, and many who are equally frustrated with the wars of the Bush era and the Patriot Act and so on. This IS all the Globalist NWO, and our beloved America is just the fall guy. I believe TPTB are planning no less than an all out war on American soil ostensibly to put down "US Imperialism" but it will be the common people who will suffer and they will attempt to force America to submit to the World Totalitarian regime which is seated in the anti-Christ UN. China is being used now through the purchasing of US debt and our vapid leaders are allowing it because they are all CFR puppets.

The current POTUS dissed our best allies, the British, who unfortunately have been surrendered to European Socialism. I have talked with people from Britain who are part of the Patriot underground who oppose this NWO garbage the same as the rest of us.

Apologize 110 years later, really...the people and government that did this is dead and long gone...let the past be the past especially if the people involved are no longer living.

There is enough to worry about this decade...lets focus here and not a century ago please...all of you that say we should apologies for this and that are crazy. Chinese treats their own people like dogs and hurts/kills innocent Buddhists, and this is occurring this decade, just maybe the the ugly Chinese should apologies for this...?

You really make me laugh muzzleflash...I served as a scout sniper in the Marines, graduated from Standford and made enough money to retire by 25 as a multi-millionaire...I am just so happy I dont have to face to face meet people like you...I can now ignore the rest of this CRAPPY meaningless thread...!

Maybe it's your education system that has problems.

Wikipedia is a leftist website whose editors like to skew history. I read some of the articles they have about Cuba and every time I, or any other Cuban try to actually write what has been happening in Cuba it is erased.

The people at wikipedia just allow posts in their website what they want people to think, not the truth.

This happens in several topics, from AGW to politics and world history.

I wouldn't put much faith in what wikepedia has written, they just post what they want you to think happened, or is happening in history, nothing more, nothing less.

BTW, how do you know that wikepedia is not a NWO tool? They certainly back topics which the NWO world elites are trying to use to influence people and nations.

Very good post. I know about this as there is a war momorial for it and also the opium wars (wern't they part of the same thing?) in my home town. Its funny you mention peoples ignorence as noone seems tto know what its for and assume its a ww2 monument!

Japans ww2 attrocities in China were some of the worst, worse than the nazi's and Russia imo. Chine must be waiting for payback!

Simply wanted to add:

Wiki is simply a reference.
All references are created by people and all people are bias in one way or the other to one degree or another i:e nothing we do is perfect as none of us are perfect.

Any book/reference is biased, can be altered, may contain outright lies and/or distortions of the truth.

If Wiki is the Left Wing reference then please point me to the Right Wing reference and then also to a Middle reference, if indeed there is one, so I can study the differences and get back to you concerning the lies being spread on all sides.

Odd that some people ASSUME there is a reference source that IS NOT BIAS...

I wanted to add that I once told my children about the HOLODOMOR.

Holodomor

My children then mentioned this to their current History Teacher who admitted that he had never EVER heard of this...

No surprise that EVERYONE knows plenty about the Holocaust yet FEW have ever heard of the Holodomor...

I no longer wonder why as it is quite evident that they wanted to grandstand the "poor jews" and downplay if not completely wipe away the memory of "poor Ukranian White people" who could be said to have been starved by a "Jewish" controlled Russia at that time.

Indoctrination can be more about what we are not taught then what we are taught.

Lastly, if 8% of the worlds LEGAL poppy is all that is required to produce all of the LEGAL drugs that are currently ripping our nation apart then I wonder what happens to the 92% that remains?

Before anyone gets uppity, Oxycontin is a semi synthetic drug that still requires the natural base elements derived from Opium Poppy and yes Afghanistan is the #1 producer and yes their production has risen EXPONENTIALLY since the US invasion.

Yes, let us IGNORE our History and also IGNORE threads that we do not like.

Yes, let us embrace our ignorance, embrace without thought the NEW religion that has been used to control us, embrace the system that creates war, debt, famine and poverty simply because these things currently benefit us.

Smedley Butler was the greatest Marine who ever lived and if he were here I am positive that he wouldnt hesitate to assist us in helping you to understand just how wrong you are.

Apologies, as I do not hate those who are sick in the head yet I have learned to Loath those who have come to embrace their sickness.

ALL kind and peaceful? Sorry i doubt anyone believes that. People from ALL creeds and cultures have good and bad people. And yes, our media can be bad and biased, but at least there is a measure of freedom. China has its own search engines that censor anything deemed politically dangerous. Religion is suppressed. Look at Fallon Gong. Google pulled out of China due to Western pressures because they were asked to willfully edit content from Chinese searches. Its repressive and against the human spirit.

And what happens when the good people of China rise up in protest? Tiannamen square style slaughter of innocents. Thats why they have not taken their country back. Hell, Chinese citizens have no say in their government whatsoever, and are denied the most basic of human rights, to vote.

I always find it interesting when threads come up like this, its always something like why isn't this war talked about or this rebellion? I had my high school U.S. History class last year and you can bet we talked about it. This war was also called the Rebellion of the Harmonious Fists, they were a group indeed to oppose foreign influence. The area that the 8 countries was interested in however was very little compared to the size of China. This grab for power was called the Sphere of Influence, the war happened sadly. The aftermath wasn't as bad though, the countries equaled out their land grabs in China. Quick pop quiz what Asian war happened in 1906?

we were watching the LINK channel the other morning and it was an educational program on a day in a Chinese school ages 3 and up to 5 or 6 i think. One clip showed 3 and 4 year olds singing a song..." Kill the foreign bastards"
and so on...this is probably exactly why they been brought up like this!

Thanks for that Mike - I very much enjoyed reading the tale of the Massachusetts warrior-God!

It's snippets of history along these lines that make excellent semi-biographical movies. Pity something similar has been done with 'The Last Samurai' already, though if it was craftily composed it could be achieved in a very different style. I think I have a new project...

ETA - nearly forgot - to the OP; excellent prod in the ribs of our collective historical noodle! I am undecided on the legitimacy of the conflict as yet, but will enjoy learning more as I progress with the project.

Many thanks! S & F well-earned.

Very Great Post!! Thanks for sharing part of history I never knew existed. Having gone to Catholic School as a kid, before the government got their hands in them, I always felt looking back, that I was taught a less jaded misconception of American history. Once again though, I was wrong. Funny how an event as big as this can be erased from history by years and years of manipulation through the educational system. Unfortunately for people like me, the text books I was given accounted for most of what I learned. Fortunately though, our youth now have access to much more information and knowledge at a rapid pace. Let's just hope they use that information wisely.

History is harsh, depending on who's writing it. I must admit that because of the name "The Boxer Rebellion" I've never really focused on this part of world history. Thank you very much for the thread. If the western world doesn't know much about it, or remember it, I'm betting that the Chinese do. Does anybody know if this is taught extensively in Chinese history books, and how big an emphasis is put on it?

This is the first I have heard of the Boxer Rebellion! It was never taught to me in history class. That doesn't surprise me though. Pick up one of your kids history books in school and read it sometime, you might be surprised at what is and is not taught in school.

Thank you for giving me a little bit of history I didn't know!

Another under the radar conflict for the US was the Phillipine - American War (1899-1902)
which was preceded by the Spanish - American War.
And it appears to be the reason why President McKinley assassinated even though it
was blamed on the whims of an anarchist Leon Czolgosz.
