These people that claim Jesus is returning on May 21st should read the very Bible that they claim to follow...

1 Thessalonians 5:2 "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night."

Matthew 24:42-44 "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason you be ready too; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will."

Clearly no one knows when Jesus will return, not even Jesus...

Matthew 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone."

case closed.

Look, Jesus isn't coming back anytime this month or next month and hey, if he does, I will admit I'm wrong and give you all my Earthly possessions.

Who else is ready for a ride on the Starship Jesus?

I look at it like this, I was raised Catholic, but I have my own beliefs. I try to live my life in according to the teachings of the bible which is fairly simple. Do Good, Be Good. Thats pretty much it. And I find it hard to understand that you can be punished by just HAVING THE NOTION jesus may not be a literal son of god. But if it happens and it unfolds literally as the bible explains, then hes supposed to forgive instantly right? It just seems like scare tactics, believe as I do or you suffer for eternity? cmon..

Whether you believe it or not,you should give it the benefit of the doubt. If it is true and real you will go through extreme suffering.
Please enlighten yourselves here:- spiritlessons.com...

We can tell you that there are two dimensions in hell, Fire and Frozen. The choice is yours to believe it or not.If you find out it is true,it is too late because you will be there.

I personally don't believe in any rapture..God never raptured anyone from anything. My take on the May 21st date is it is equivalent to the day Noah shut the door of the ark.. It is the end of the 6000 years of mans rule of this world and the beginning of God's Sabbath 1000 years. Ecclesiastes states history merely repeats itself..Everything that is done has been done before.. So if you read His book and learn what has happened in the past you can figure out what will happen in the future. Because God never raptured anyone before it won't happen now.. When sin has reached it's limit on earth God destroys the sinners and starts all over again till He has filled His earth with His children who love and obey His ways. It also says No man knows when Jesus will return..only the Father knows so that shoots down this date as the return of Christ.. I believe this date is the cut off date where the Father will no longer save souls from destruction that is to come. Just like in the days of Noah.. God said Noah had 7 days to build the ark before the flood came and on the 7th day God sealed the ark so all un-believers could not come in out of the rain and flood.. This is the end of our 7 days in this earth age. This is just my beliefs and the way I understand it from reading God's book.

What if on December 31, 1999/January 1, 2000 Jesus Christ returns? Oh...wait, one of that most talked about dates (from my childhood due to my religious upbringing) was that date for Christ's return. Years later, here I sit it never happened I am older, and hopefully wiser and do not give credence to any particular dates that Jesus is said to return on. Nor do I believe Jesus is ever 'returning' nor am I convinced he even existed the way the Bible claims he did.

Actually I find all these dates and huge predictions really only serve to discredit the Christian religion.

If "Christ" returned on the 21'st I would kill him. Just to show the Christians that they do NOT have free will.

(I wouldn't be able to kill him, right? I mean if I did, then there would be a 3rd (1st Or 4th, depending on your POV) returning of Christ. Which is against "God's" word. Which takes us back to I can't kill him, but my free will card says I can. But if I did, then there would be a 3rd (1st Or 4th, depending on your POV) returning of Christ. Which is against "God's" word. Which takes us back to I can't kill him, but my free will card says I can. But if I did, then there would be a 3rd........YIKES!)

Anyway, I guess that means he isn't showing up. Well, at least not as long as I am around!

(Same goes for the Anti-Christ, I will kill him. But if I did, then there would be no "end times". Which is against "God's" word. Which takes us back to I can't kill him, but my free will card says I can.)

I guess what I am saying is, you had to be around to return. No concrete evidence that there was even a JC, let alone one that is going to return, let alone this month!

None of that garbage is "in the Bible."

In fact -- Sheol literally means "The Grave." It's a place of non-remembrance. If it were up to me the only books in the Bible would be the 4 gospels. The book of Revelation surely wouldn't make the cut. It's snuff porn for the 2nd century, and has nothing at all to do with anything other then one persecuted man's fevered hatred for the Roman Empire, who had made his life a living hell.

If you are going to believe in silly stuff "just in case," why not believe in the Viking mythology of Valhalla? At least that sounds like fun. Fight and die all day. Rise again by night and feast and make love to Valkyries. Why this and not any number of thousands of other mythological stories? Burning bushes? It's not even very good, creative or interesting.

That is correct we do not know the timing of the rapture, only His glorious return at the end of the tribulation period to destroy the ant-christ at the battle of Armageddon can be approximately timed.

Luke 21:20 “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. 22For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. 23How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. 24They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

25“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

On FAUX christians as compared to REAL christians
there is obviously a difference

there was a time when my fundie co worker said that christian prophesy said
Christians would be hunted like dogs

I said how do you hunt a dog?
nobuddy Hunts dogs to catch dogs
like no one fishes a worm...to catch a worm
you hunt a dog or fish a worm to get other prey..
DUH!

so who has been hunting christians like dogs?
go on take a look........
yes, the same liers that said jesus is cool with lying, slaughtering people, and banking usery.

The fundie I mentioned also said GERMANY would be starting world war three
sorry, wrong again
Its ongoing now, and guess what it wasn't Germany that made it official.
it was nato....
what religion makes up Nato?

and satan is the prince pf lies

Take a look around
has it not occured to any one here that
maybe the rapture occured to some people that actually practice what jesus preached...
Telling the truth
not banking with the money changers in the temple
though shall not kill
though shal not bear false whitness
thow sahalt not cioovewt thy neighbours wife
( one third of the us army woman claim to have been raped)
now who might that be?

Fallujah babies? god hates babies obviously rotten little sinners
take that you foul beasts...
but it was OK to lie about incubator babies...?

etc
NOOooo.....The zioinst luciferian "christians" are going to heaven
Judgeth not sayth the lord......especially YOURSELF

GOD put people here to learn about being responsible adults apparently
all those that say different are gonna learn the hard way
and too late at that....
I'll wager

The lie of WMds comes to mind....
satan is the prince of lies
the lies regarding obama's birth certificate are another example
Entebbe and the USS liberty were total lies too

satan
prince of lies

maybe all the dead in the middle east are the ones god wanted.
everyone knows god made Lucifer to do his work for him....
but they never add it up to the real meat of it all
thats how you hunt christians

a couple guys with box cutters - the smallest army in the world
beat the biggest army in the world..
now who/s side was god on there?
don't tell me the losers in that little exchange

and lastly
any christian who needs a gun obviously DOESN'T realy trust Jesus to protect him
but they sure quote DANIEL in the lion's dead

so this we are the true christian thing has got to go

I'll believe that when GOD tells me its true
in writing with pictures
after all god made the universe he should be able to handle the paperwork

oh
and if you work for the TSA or the church
don't tell me you are a christian while you are searching little childrens pants...
please

Second coming
the people who were there, the whitnesses from the time, what do they say?
about the Goyim who believe in Jebus?
edit on 9-5-2011 by Danbones because: (no reason given)

Sorry have not read this thread in much detail, however while sitting on the train in NYC the other day, I did see some advertising for a christian group pronouncing the end of the world on may 21st. I did not manage to get a picture, due to the train being so packed, but I was surprised that someone has actually funded doomsday propaganda on a mass transit system. Interesting to say the least.

Luke 21 paints a different picture on how God will take care of His own.

34“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. 35For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

I really don't like all the date-setting attempts because it's more likely to drive people away from God's message than to it. On May 22nd I wonder how many will question their faith. People should never base their faith on a flimsy promise like this because it just leads to confusion, frustration and even anger.

Considering that the guy who is making this prediction has been wrong in the past when he said that Jesus would return in 1994 and said that it would be impossible for Jesus to return in 2011, we can safely assume that this current prediction is at best merely another guess.

Biblically speaking, a prophet must be 100% accurate all the time. Otherwise, we are told that the prophet can safely be ignored.

Exactly right:

Deuteronomy 18:21-22, "And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

If someone claims to be a prophet and is wrong only once, then they are NOT a true prophet, it's as simple as that.

Now, the part about Jesus coming back and gathering his followers in the clouds is biblical. The word "rapture" is never used, but that's just because it's the word that "we" use to refer to what is described in the Bible of that particular future event, so no need to get into an argument about the terminology. Just look at what the Bible actually describes.

Correct, "Rapture" is just what we call the event. I've always been amused at those who argue it can't exist because the word isn't actually in the Bible, I guess that also means that giraffes don't exist because that word isn't in there either, LOL! It's easier for us to say "Rapture" than it is to say "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

A lot of our outreach to those who don't believe the same way should be in the relationships that we develop with those around us; demonstrating in how we live our everyday lives the benefits that we experience from living according to what we learn from our own readings from the Bible (and discussions with fellow believers) -- none of this running off to chase after wild predictions.

Amen! I've long believed that the best way to win souls isn't to go around banging on doors and shoving the message down people's throats, it's showing God's grace to others in the way we live our own lives. You don't have to tell people the source of your strength, if they know you for long they'll know whether your strength is coming from yourself, or your things, or your money, or from the Lord.

How will we know when it's really Jesus?

His second coming is not going to be like the first, He will not return as a man, but as King of Kings, and it will be a notable event:

Matthew 24:27
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Seriously, could not Lucifer portray him and fool us all?

Yes, it is prophecied that he will do just that:

2 Thessalonians 2:9-14
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The "him" is the antichrist, his power is via Satan.

The bible is such a conundrum of do's and don'ts as it even tells you to beware of false prophets.

A lot of people get mixed up about the Mosaic Laws and let that interfere with the real message of the Bible. The Mosaic Laws were for the Jews, and they were a lesson- it was God's way of demonstrating to the Jews that they were incapable of salvation through acts. They were given specific laws to abide by, and regardless of how hard they tried to keep the laws, they failed over and over again. The real message of the Bible is that we are ALL sinners, and that we are ALL in need of God's free gift of salvation, and that NONE of us can be saved through our own actions. Everything in the entire old and new testaments reinforces this simple message. Satan is the author of confusion and does his best to keep this simple message from getting through.

Rule #1: Live every day as if Christ will return tomorrow. That pretty much solves all issues and concerns doesn't it?

While I think this man means well and he seems to have pure intentions, I don't think he's going to get the outcome he wants. But then again I could be wrong. Course if you refer to rule #1 then it doesn't really matter does it?

You have the free will to try and stick a full grown elephant up your nose. Does that mean you can? Of course not. Your whole "argument" is silly and childish, it reminds me of that other atheist favorite: "Can God create a rock so big that He can't move it" which is meant to trap Christians no matter whether they answer yes or no. Yes = "oh, so there's something that God can't do, IE- move a big rock?" No = "oh, so there's something God can't do, IE- make a rock that big?" The answer of course if that the question is logically flawed, it assumes God is subject to the laws of the universe that He created, and of course He is not. Your question is equally flawed, free will means that you have the ability to make choices, it does not mean that you can do whatever you want (but please post pics if you decide to try to stick an elephant up your nose).
