ok, it is just a pain in the butt to go
into a thread and start reading
only to have some user black his/her
username out so I can't see who I am
talking to.

I do realize that some want to stay
anonymous but I have news for ya,
you're not. The only thing you are doing
is just making it harder for folks to join
in on the thread.

You either have to hit the reply or quote button
for it to show up so that it's readable.

This should be rectified on a total site basis.
If ATS is gonna have a totally black background
where the username shows up, then that same
color should NOT be allowed to be used for the
username.

I find this very annoying and needs correction.
What say you ATS members ???

or maybe I'll have to actually reply to some of you
to even know ur username.

Just highlight the persons name

I find it annoying when people do that too!

This will be yet another case where despite the gravity of the offense my arguments for the return of state sponsored crucifixtions will likely be rejected and or fall on deaf ears.

Line a few of these people up on the Apian way for others to see as an example, and this practice will stop!

Alert it.
Not much to discuss....It is against the rules to mask out one's username. New Rules for Avatars and Backgrounds:

Background colors and imagery that obscure your member name are not allowed.

well I have counted 6 members today in threads
that are currently doing it.

Maybe mods should intervene.
Would mods like a list of usernames
who are guilty of this offense ???

Use the complaint form. Please do not post names on this thread.
Staff cannot be everywhere at all times, so using the alert or complaint form is always best

UPDATE:

MANY MANY thanks to moderator Ashley D
who figured out my problem.

There is a setting on your profile page
which allows you to hide members avatars
and such. This was a setting I was not aware
I had. And through some ghost in the machine
my setting got switched to the ON position.
I flipped the switch back to OFF and it fixed
my problem.

Thread retracted

thanks Ashley and staff for being on the ball

No need to retract - I have seen this too, today in fact (and my avatar setting is not "hide") so it is still a relevant head's up to those who may not have been aware of the T/C's.

Happy Mother's Day to you, too!

Well, so long as we make up the name signs
black on white
or no one will know who they are
and we will be right back where we started....
Namely in the dark

maybe if we just showed the consonants
to protect the innocent...
