Humans aren't the only creatures that can feel love.

I got this as a forwarded email and I thought I'd share. Quite touching really.



A female mate was hit by a car as  she swooped low across the road, and the condition was soon  fatal.

Her male mate brought her  food and attended her with love and compassion.

He brought her food again, but was  shocked to find her dead.

He tried to move her - a rarely  seen effort.

Aware that his mate was dead and  would never come back to him again, he cried with adoring love…

...and stood beside her with  sadness and sorrow.

Millions of people were touched  after seeing these photos in America, Europe, Australia, and even India. The photographer sold these pictures for a nominal fee to the most  famous newspaper in France. All copies of that edition were sold  out on the day these pictures were published. And many people think animals and  birds don't have brains or feelings.

Now this can't be tested or proven in a lab, and I'm not sure who took these pictures. If it was not love then why else would a male bird react to a female bird's peril in that way? They say a picture speaks a thousand words, maybe these pictures speak love as one of those words.

Surprisingly I'm touched, Which is very rare.

I totally agree with the thread title.

I have witnessed three animals in particular that can love, and I know others can as well.

First, birds. I have seen male and female birds nuzzling together before. They are super cute when they are building their nest and talking to each other.

Second is dogs of course. If treated properly, dogs are extremely loyal and loving to their owners. I love dogs.

Third is cats... Even though I'm not so sure about them. They may fake love in order to manipulate humans...
I'm not really a cat person.

I think animals share all emotions that we do...except for one. Humor. using my dogs as an example, i've seen them exhibit a range of emotions, but i never see them find anything funny

Touching stuff dude,

I dont know why but seeing animals in distress really gets me.
Im sure they have feelings and emotions (the look of embarrasment on my Kittens faces when they fall off something is priceless) but Im not sure if they have the reasoning abilities to be able to cope or fully understand them and that thought breaks my heart

Someone mentioned that dog that waited at the train station for years after his owner died in Japan, Im comfortable enough with my sexuality to admit I balled my eyes out LOL

I just dont understand how people can say animals dont have feelings or arent self aware.

Thanks for all the replies folks! I was touched as well, and like some others here, that's rare for me.

You could almost relate to the anguish of the male bird as he stood over his mate...

Having owned a pet and raising a dog from a pup, I know they can love. I simply can't see how some people can say that animals are only motivated by hunger and self preservation, I mean think about it... WE are animals. Human beings are animals, we are a part of this world just as they are.

Thats amazing. I wouldn't of even of thought that birds do have love in them. I know other animals do but this is new to me. S+F

The only birds that don't love are those nasty Blue Jays.

They swoop in and steal eggs from other birds.

WE are animals. Human beings are animals, we are a part of this world just as they are.

This is all that needs to be said. We are all animals so why do we automatically assume that we are the only animal with emotions for others?

If anything we are overly selfish to think we are the only ones.

Im a 22 year old male that reads articles on death constantly, yet this almost put em to tears... very touching !

And people still don't believe in love, It's real..........

I can't imagine myself in such a situation.

I never doubted once that not only humans feel love.

I even think it's displaced to think animals are not evolved enough to feel love.
But laughter, I'm not sure about it since it requires active memory.
